This document provides a concrete mix design report for a C20/25 class concrete to be used in the Sibiu Motorway By-Pass project in Romania. The report details the aggregates, cement, water, and additives to be used. Three trial mixes were tested with cement contents adjusted by +/- 7%. All mixes met the required workability. Compressive strength tests at 7 and 28 days confirmed the base mix design of 400 kg/m3 cement satisfied the C20/25 class requirements. Mix design (C) was selected as compatible with concreting operations.

1.0 GENERAL

Scope of this report is to assess and define, trough the evaluation of the results, a concrete mix
which satisfy the requirements given in Contract Specification and “Cod de practica pentru
executarea lucrarilor din beton si beton armat” indicativ NE 012-99.

The study is based on the results obtained during the concrete trial mixes carried out in the Site
Laboratory in 01/09/2005 and 06/09/2005.

2.0 AGGREGATES

The proposed aggregates to be used in concrete production are the following:

a) Coarse aggregate: Gravel
(2 classes: 7÷16, 16÷31)
b) Fine aggregates: Fine and Coarse Sand
(2 classes: 3÷7, 0÷3)

The source of gravel aggregates is the approved quarry of AVRIG.

(Reference approval letter 3813/SO/1340/UP/0389 dated 27.05.2004)

Grading and specific gravity test results are collected in appendix 2.0.

3.0 CEMENT

The cement used is the following:

Cement complying with SR EN 197-1 type II A-S 32.5 R.

The source of cement is the approved factory of HOLCIM - ALESD

(Reference approval letter 3813/SO/1340/UP/0159 dated 06.03.2004).

Cement certificates “DECLARATIE DE CONFORMITATE” of supplier are enclosed in

appendix 3.0

4.0 WATER

The water used in the mix design and for concrete production is potable water and therefore
tests are not required (ref. STAS 790-84).

5.0 ADDITIVE
Pag 4 din 4

The admixtures used are the following:

Plastifiant BV3M
