We have created dump file by the kill -11 command with PID of JVM
process and dump files occurred that file name is jitdump.
20150805.105043.7340058.0006.dmp. We can analyze coredump file with on
Memory Analyzer from ISA5 but We want to know that how to analyze

kill -11 is a disruptive kill, so the process stopped.

The file name, 20150805.105043.7340058.0006.dmp, looks like an AIX


coredump.

As such that would need to be processed with jextract and then some ISA
tools could be used.

Please see the section. collecting data manually , here, when you expand
it.

I used jextract command but Error occorred like bellow. This is not
coredump , the file type is jitdump .

Hi Selim,

this is Neil Mason from the WAS European support team at IBM and
i have picked up this pmr for you.

As you have seen The Just-In-Time (JIT) compiler produces a binary dump
of diagnostic data when a general protection fault (GPF) or abort event
occurs.

Messages similar to the following example indicate the location of the


dump file:

JVMDUMP007I JVM Requesting JIT dump using


'/home/user/jitdump.20130821.130125.3532.0004.dmp'
JVMDUMP010I JIT dump written to
/home/user/jitdump.20130821.130125.3532.0004.dmp

These dump files are in fact encrypted deliberately so that only the IBM
JIT L3 team should be able to parse them.

The reason for this is that they contain data/information on the JIT
compiler component which is considered for IBM internal use only.

I hope this answers your question , please let me know if you have any
further questions or concerns around this or confirm we can close this
pmr at this stage.

Thanks i will close this pmr.

In answer to your question could we analyze the jit dump, the answer
would be yes BUT we would want some reason behind doing this. So far
you have said that you issue a kill -11 so we know why the dump was
created what we need to know is why you issue the kill -11, what
sort of problem are you trying to analyze by getting the dump and what
makes you believe it is a jit problem?

If you are issuing the Kill command then the JVM is not crashing so
are you seeing a slow performance problem? if so we would prefer to
start with the slow performance mustgather data the cpu trpof data
verbosegc, javacores and logs. If we then determined that this was a jit
related issue then we would go from there, but we might not need a jit
dump we might request jit trace or look at know issues etc.

The point being that a jit dump as a result of a kill -11 is not a sign
of a problem it is a standard response to the kill command.

On this basis are you ok if i close thie pmr at this stage?
