MAT221 Course Outline

This document provides the course outline for MAT 221 Calculus I offered in the 2023-2024 semester at the University of Botswana. The course is worth 3 credits and is a core course taught in the first semester. It introduces techniques of integration, applications of integration like volumes and arc lengths, improper integrals, Taylor's theorem, differential equations, and sequences and series. Students will be assessed through two tests, an assignment test, and a final examination worth 67% of their grade. The course aims to develop skills in calculus that are applied in other sciences and introduce students to real-life problems in differential equations.
