Lab #1: INSTALLATION OF UBUNTU 16.04

First you have to install the Oracle VM VirtualBox Manager in your pc.
Download the Ubuntu 16.04 and free VMware Player.
Open the setup of Oracle VM VirtualBox Manager, you will see
something like this.

Next, Click ‘New’ button


Type name of your new virtual machine. Now I am installing the
Ubuntu 16.04 so, I will enter the ‘Ubuntu16.04’ under Name, ‘Linux’
under Type and ‘Ubuntu (64-bit)’ as the Version.
Then, click on ‘Next’ button

Change memory size and click on ‘Next’. (The memory size depend on
your host machine memory size. In my case, I have 4GB physical
RAM.so I like to allocate as much as possible for Ubuntu but leave some
of my windows host machine. So, I pick 600MB for my Ubuntu. It
allocate dynamically memory so you change it according to the size of
your host machine. But you
should never give more than 50% of your memory to a virtual machine.

Accept the default (“Create a virtual hard drive now”) and click
‘Create’ button.
Continue to accept the default “VDI(Virtual Disk Image)” drive file and
click ‘Next’ button.
Accept the default ("Dynamically allocated") and click on ‘Next’.

Add more space for added software about (“16GB”) and click ‘Create’
button.
Your VirtualBox should now look similar to the following

Now the Virtual machine is created. We are ready to install Ubuntu 16.04
in this virtual machine. Select your new virtual machine and click on the
Setting button. Click on the General
in the left panel of the popup window.
Click on advanced and change the (Shared Clipboard and Drag’n
Drop) from Disabled to “Bidirectional” and you will see something
following.

Click on the System in the left panel of popup window and go to the
Motherboard and disable the “floppy” (from the Boot Order).

Next go to the Processor and select two “Processor” and “Enable the
PAE/NX”.
Click on the Display in the left panel of popup window and “Enable 3D
Acceleration” when you enable it then you will see something like the
following

Click Storage in the left panel of the popup window. Click on the Empty
icon
under “Controller: IDE” and you should see something like the followin

Search and select the setup of Ubuntu from your local disk
Load the setup of Ubuntu

Back to Oracle VM VirtualBox Manager, click on the new Ubuntu virtual
machine and hit 'Start' button. Now you shall see a 'Welcome' screen.
Click 'Install Ubuntu' button.

Click “Continue” button.

Make sure “Erase disk and install Ubuntu” option is selected and click
“Install Now” button.

Select your region and Click on “Continue”.

Setup your username and strong password and click on “Continue”


button.

You are almost done. It should take 10-15 minute to complete the
installation.

After installation is complete, click “Restart Now” button. When you see
a screen with a black background saying 'Please remove installation media
and close the tray (if any) then press ENTER: just follow it.

Enter the password you have chosen and press “Enter”.
