Advantages and Disadvantages of ChatGPT - JM
Today, we are living in a society where technologies and new innovations like
businesses, factories, and even lift our economy at its fullest. While these technologies
have been adopted by many sectors in our country, does that mean that our education
sector should adopt these technologies like ChatGPT too? Well, for me, we should and
challenges which needs our careful consideration. On the other hand, integration of this
technology into our educational settings has also the chance to improve our learning
experiences, foster creativity, and provide support to our learners. But despite of these,
issues on authenticity, overreliance, and ethical considerations has been also evident.
wanted to avoid these technologies, there will always be chances that we will be dealing
bad, but it is neither good. I believe that ChatGPT offers a wide range of opportunities
for students and even teachers but at the same time provide disadvantages in our
educational setting.
As a student, one of the benefits that ChatGPT brought to us was its ability to
enhance our learning. The AI serve as our important tool when we are having research
because it gives a wide range of information and it helps ourselves to explore ideas on
different issues. Through ChatGPT, we were able to build our socialization skills by
engaging with our classmates in a conversation. It also helps us in stimulating real world
tutor, catering to our individual learning needs. The AI also enhances our creativity by
language and provide relevant ideas, inspires us to think outside the box. This
collaborative effort between human and machine has the potential to bring innovative
solutions and perspectives that might not emerge through traditional methods alone.
ChatGPT also raises valid concerns about authenticity in our educational settings. It is
crucial for us to actively participate in the learning process, avoiding sole reliance on the
AI for answers. Striking a balance between using the technology for assistance and
educational experience.
The risk of overreliance on ChatGPT, also hinders the development of our critical
thinking skills. We used to receive instant answers without putting in the effort to
analyze, synthesize, and evaluate information. Through this, it led to a passive learning
thinking process.
We tend to over rely on ChatGPT instead of thinking on our own. For this reason,
we loss the chance to effectively enhance our critical thinking because we solely rely on
ChatGPT as our tool to generate ideas. And as a student, this is also one thing that has
happened to me.
because as a student, I am also one that has been affected. Not only myself, but also
some of the students who were using this tool in their academic journey. Teachers need
to teach students of the things that might happened when they solely rely on this tool. In
this way, teachers are not only helping students to become aware of the disadvantages
that an AI provide, but also helping the students to become the better version of their
selves. When this happened, they will totally live their life at its fullest in which they can
think critically, socialize with their fellow individuals, and become a creative thinker of
their own.
To conclude, I will probably say that, using ChatGPT is good because as one that
used this tool, it provides a cascade of opportunities for me being a student. ChatGPT
has lifted me from things that I don’t know and enables myself to become updated of
them. But, if we rely on it most of the time, that will be the time that’s the time where we
could say that AI is definitely bad. It is totally bad because it led to our disruptions if not
properly used. That is why, we need to have a balance strike when we used ChatGPT
because in the end we are the ones to be blame if something good or bad has
happened to us.
