Detailed Lesson Plan in Science 10 For Demo TeachingFINAL

1) The lesson plan summarizes a science lesson on images formed by plane mirrors. It discusses key concepts like reflection, incident rays, reflected rays, and normal lines. 2) Students perform an activity using two plane mirrors to explore how the angle between the mirrors affects the number of images formed. They find that the number of images increases as the angle decreases. 3) A formula is derived to determine the number of images formed based on the angle between the mirrors: N=360/θ -1, where N is the number of images and θ is the angle.

Detailed Lesson Plan in Science 10

I. Learning Objectives:

Competency:
Predict the qualitative characteristics (orientation, type, and magnification) of images
formed by plane mirror.

Objectives:
1. Identify the relationship between the number of images formed and the angle between
two plane mirrors.
2. Derive a formula for determining the number of images formed when two mirrors are
kept at a certain angle.

II. Subject Matter

Topic/Lesson: Images Formed by Plane Mirrors

A. Preliminary Activities

May all we stand for the prayer. Video

Good morning class! Good morning ma’am.

You may now take your seat. Thank you ma’am.

Let me take the attendance first. Make

sure that you are in your proper seats so (Check attendance using a seat plan)
that you will not be marked absent.

Very Good! Everybody is present.

B. Review of the past lesson

Do you still remember our lesson last

meeting?
What had we discussed? Yes Ma’am.
It is about images formed by plane
Yes. Exactly. mirror.
One of the properties of light is light
reflection

Anybody who can define light Reflection is the turning back of light
reflection? rays when it hits a shiny surface like
mirror.
Very good.

Let us recall the important terms in the

reflection of light.

Anybody who can recall the terms in May I answer ma’am?

the reflection of light?

Yes Shyne? The incident ray, reflected ray, and

normal line.

Very good Shyne. Now may I call Jelly The incident ray is the ray of light
Mae, what is meant by an incident ray approaching the mirror represented by
as shown in figure 1? an arrow approaching an optical
element like mirror as shown in figure
1.
Very good Jelly Mae.

How about the reflected ray, KC? The reflected ray is the ray of light
which leaves the mirror and is
represented by an arrow pointing away
Very good KC. from the mirror.

As you can see in figure 1, there is an

imaginary line that can be drawn
perpendicular to the surface of the
mirror at the point of incidence where
the ray strikes the mirror. What do you
call that imaginary line Mark Noland? The imaginary line is called the Normal
line.
Correct Mark Noland. Very good.

mirror.

What do you call the angle between the incident

It is the angle of incidence ma’am.
ray and the normal line, Raven?
Very good Raven.

How about the angle between the reflected ray

and the normal line, Angel Rose? It is the angle of reflection.

Very good Angel Rose.

We can say also that the angle of incidence is

equal to the angle of reflection since they have
the same measurement.

C. Motivation

So, this morning we will learn more about

reflection of light and we will be using two
plane mirrors.
We have a motto “Honesty is the best Policy”
Let’s try this activity if this motto can be
applied using the two plane mirrors. But before
performing the activity may I present to you a
PowerPoint to familiarize the different position
of the angles.

Identify what angle is this: 300, 450. 600, or 900.

Present a power point of different

angles.

In slide 1, what angle does it shows?

Very good. 30 degrees

In second slide

Very good. 45 degrees

In third slide

Very good. 60 degrees

In the fourth slide

Very good. 90 degrees

D. Activity

Since you are now familiar with the

positions of the angles, you are going to (Students perform the activity)
perform an activity by your own to

time using two plane mirrors. You will
explore how the angle between two
plane mirrors affects the number of
images formed. This activity is entitled:

Very good. Your answers are all

correct.

F. Discussion

You have seen a lot of coins in your

activity. Multiple images are formed by
the reflection that happens when
arranging at least two mirrors. Figure 1
shows three images of a 100 peso bill
in front of two mirrors at 90o. Does the
activity that you have performed using
two plane mirrors can be applied of the
motto “Honesty is the best policy”? No ma’am.

Yes, it cannot be applied to this motto

since it does not tell the truth.
The number of images, N, determined
using the formula N= (360/angle
between the two mirror) -1.
Parallel mirrors on the other hand
produce infinite number of images.

Figure 1. Multiple Images Formed by

Two Plane Mirrors at 90o.

G. Generalization:

Anybody who can state the relationship

between the number of images formed
and the angle between two plane
mirrors? As the angle formed by the two plane
mirrors decreases, the number of
images formed increases. Therefore,
there is an inversely proportional with
the images formed by two plane
mirrors.
Very good.

Since you are done be ready for an

evaluation. Do you have some None ma’am.
questions?

IV. Evaluation
Direction: On a one half (1/2) sheet of paper crosswise, answer the following questions.
1. What is reflection?
2. What is the relationship between the number of images formed and the angle between
two plane mirrors? (5 points)
3. Derive the formula for determining the number of images formed when two mirrors
are kept at a certain angle.
V. Assignment:
Construct a Bubble Map on the concepts you learned from this lesson.
