Assign 2 - Research Method

Based on the research data provided: 1. A t-test was conducted to determine if there was a significant difference in Mr. X's teaching effectiveness between Method 1 and Method 2 for teaching mathematics to 5th grade students. The t-test results showed a significant difference, with Method 1 being more effective. 2. Descriptive statistics were calculated to analyze preference data for ice cream made from ube, young coconut, and seaweed. A t-test would then be used to determine if there were significant differences in acceptability between the three ice cream flavors. 3. The appropriate statistical analyses were conducted using Microsoft Excel following defined steps. Comparisons were made and conclusions drawn based on the statistical results

Analysis and Interpretation. Analyze and interpret the following research problems and result.

Is there significant difference in the effectiveness of Mr. X in teaching Mathematics to Grade 5

pupils using method 1 and Method 2?

Subjects Method of Teaching Mathematics

Method 1 (X1) Method 2 (X2)
1 90 87
2 88 85
3 82 78
4 80 75
5 91 88
6 85 80
7 81 76
8 89 86
9 83 79
10 84 78

Based on item 1 research problem and result, answer the following:

ANSWER:

a. State the type of data analysis.

Answer: Comparative analysis
b. State the null hypothesis.
Answer: There is no significant difference in the effectiveness of Mr. X in teaching
Mathematics to Grade 5 pupils using Method 1 and Method 2.
c. Give the appropriate statistical tool
Answer: t-Test between means
d. Compute the result with the use of computer. Show the steps.
Answer:
Step 1. By using MS-Excel, type the data in the worksheet.
Step 3. Highlight the data. Click data menu and click data analysis
Step 4. Wait until the computer displays analysis tools.
Step 5. Click t-test: Paired two sample for means, click ok
Step 6. The computer displays input. Type in variable 1 range:$A1: $A10. In
variable 2 range $B1: $B10. Type in alpha 0.01. Click ok

Table 1. Statistical Results from the given Data

e. Degrees of freedom
f. g. h. and i.
Answer:
The computed t-value was 11.783 and is greater than the t - critical or tabular
value 3.2498 with df 9 at 1 percent level of confidence. The computed t-value is
significant. That means method 1 is effective than method 2 in teaching Mathematics to
grade 5 pupils. Thus, the method 1 is better than method 2. Therefore, the null
hypothesis is reject.
