B. Course Objectives and Learning Outcomes
1. Course Description
This clinical course is a co- requisite to the theoretical part of adult and geriatric health
nursing 2. The course focuses on improving students’ skills in utilizing the nursing process
and critical thinking principles that enables students to provide the healthiest nursing care for
their patients. During the course, students will be exposed to a variety of experiences in the
Medical – Surgical units.
2. Course Main Objective
To provide the student with practical knowledge, skills and attitude to provide comprehensive
nursing care to adult as well as geriatric patients with different medical – surgical disorders.

surgical nursing specialties (orthopedic, urology, neurology, ENT and
ophthalmology).
2.2 Recognize and manage emergencies with special medical - surgical S2
patients.
2.3 Demonstrate competency in differentiating the deviation from normal S2
diagnostic values.
2.4 Appreciate the legal & ethical issues relevant to medical – surgical S3
nursing.
2.5 Identify the problems and needs, prioritize them and provide S4
comprehensive nursing care by applying nursing process.
