Applications are invited from eligible candidates for the following post under sponsored research projects funded by SERB-DST,
in the Department of Chemistry, Indian Institute of Engineering Science & Technology (IIEST), Shibpur, Howrah-711 103.

Name of the post: Junior Research Fellow (JRF)

Duration: 3 years [upto December 2026 or till the project continues whichever is earlier]

Essential Qualification: The candidates with B.Sc Hons degree in Chemistry and M.Sc in Chemistry (Organic special) from a
recognized University/Institute with minimum 60% marks or 6.5 CGPA on a 10 point scale (throughout from class X to the
qualifying degree) are eligible to apply for the JRF positions with valid GATE/ NET.
For SC/ST category, a minimum 55% marks or 6.0 CGPA on 10 point scale (throughout from class X to the qualifying degree) is
required with valid GATE/ NET.

Desirable Qualification: Prior knowledge/ prior experience to set up organic reactions and product characterization, testing and
analysis.
Age Limit: Maximum 28 years, (Upper age limit is relaxable upto 5 years for SC/ST/OBC and Woman candidates).

Fellowship: For JRF [Rs. 31,000/- + Rs. 7440/-(HRA) = Total Rs. 38440/- per month for the first 2 years] and [Rs. 35,000/- +
Rs.8400/- (HRA) = Total Rs. 43400/- per month for the third year]
Other Benefits: The selected candidates are eligible to register for PhD degree at IIEST, Shibpur as per institute rules.
However, s(he) needs to apply for PhD position when the advertisement is open.

Interested eligible candidates should mail soft copies of the application letter in plain paper, recent bio-data, mark sheets and
certificates. All documents should be self-attested and one pdf format. Physical documents will be verified at the time of
interview. The selection will be canceled if any discrepancies are found in the documents at the time of physical verification.
