14. Suppose, you experienced a traffic jam last week. Now write a paragraph
on "A Traffic Jam You Experienced".
"A Traffic Jam You Experienced“
Traffic jam is such a situation in which vehicles cannot move or can move very
slowly and there occurs a long line of vehicles. In Dhaka city, it is a very
common phenomenon and almost everyone has the experience of being
caught in a traffic jam. I am a student of class ten. Almost everyday, I face this
problem but last week, I became a victim of a terrible traffic jam at Kalabagan
area. The duration of that traffic jam was about two hours.
Falling vict im to it, I felt like a fish out of water. I was returning home from my
school by rickshaw. In front of my rickshaw, there was a bus which was emitting
black smoke. The smoke flowed towards me as the direction of wind. I tried to
lessen t he effect of smoke upon me putting my handkerchief on my nose but
could not struggle for long. The constant horns of vehicles around me almost
turned me to be a deaf. As it was summer, the heat of the sun got added t o
trouble me. The roof of the rickshaw was not well enough to protect me from
the scorching sun. In this situation, I felt giddy. I was about to vomit two times.
The unbearable traffic jam left me in a dilemma. I was not able to take any
decision whether I should leave the rickshaw and go to my house on foot or
not. At one t ime, I found the vehicles moving. When I reached home, it was
two hours late. The members of my family were all very anxious. Meanwhile,
they made phone call to my school. However, getting me, they felt relaxed.
On that day, I could realize how terrible and unbearable traffic jam is!
15. Write a composition on "The Uses of Computer in Everyday Life".
THE USES OF COMPUTER IN EVERYDAY LIFE
Computer has become an inevitable gadget in modern man's life. In the
recent decades, computer has demonstrated a great importance in
Bangladesh. It is doing all its magical activities in every sphere of the country.
Education, medicine, entertainment and business have undergone a great
change in the recent years. As a means of communication, it has connected
us with the rest of the world through satellite and fibre optic cables. We may
peep into t he matter and find out what computer has done in the country.
Computer has made a lot of change in our education. From 1992, the SSC
objective examination has been being examined by computer. And, other
examinations including the BCS have also undergone the same process. Again,
Internet users are freely acquiring knowledge and information from web-sites
within moments only. One can easily enter into far away libraries and can even
join seminars and consultations with specialists.
However, all t he public and the private universities are providing graduations
and post -graduate degrees on computer science and engineering in the
country.
In every office irrespective of old or modern, computer is a must . Various data
and records are preserved in computers. A simple computer can preserve
records that needs thousands of registrar books. So, it saves lots of labour and
expenses. One can easily check out a necessary record and edit without
damaging the old file.
Again, the business world cannot move a single pace without this 'Aladdin's
Lamp'. Export and import activities are conducted through computerised
communication system. Banks are nothing without a computer now. In every
possible way, computer is the means of communication now in Bangladesh.
Doctors can preserve the diagnosis on their patients in a computer, may
analyze their progress and deterioration comparing among different datas.
Every modern health care centre is totally computerised now.
Sometimes people, especially the youth are too engrossed with the
entertainments and merry making on the monitor. Thus they waste their time
and productivity to a large extent. But, this can also be avoided with a shrug if
one is really conscious.
Computer has done a lot in man's life in Bangladesh. But, it has still to be
available to the mass especially the rural and poor people. The government
can take effective measures for further advancement of computer.
