Abstract
This study aims to explain the comparison of the translation results of two translation
machines, Google Translate and Bing Translator. This study uses a qualitative content
analysis method with a comparative model of text. This research compares translations from
Indonesian to English and also from English to Indonesian. The data were then analyzed
using research instruments regarding the quality of translation. The results showed that
Google translate translates faster than Bing translator, Google Translate manages to translate
it in a fairly short time, it only takes 00:00:52 seconds, while Bing translator takes 00:01:45
seconds. And the quality of the text translation results from the Google Translate machine
translation is stated to be quite accurate. Meanwhile, the quality of the text translation results
from Bing Translator's machine translation is stated to be less accurate. A comparison of the
quality of the text translations of Google Translate and Bing Translator shows that the quality
of the translation results from Google Translate's machine translation is superior to that of
Bing Translator's machine translation.

Introduction
Translation simply means transferring from one language to another, for example
transferring from Indonesian to English. Translation according Jeremy Munday, translation is
the process of translation between two different written languages a involves the translator
changing an original written text (the source text or ST) in the original verbal languange (the
source languge or SL) into a written text the target Text or TT) in a different verbal language
(the target language or TL).
Translation as an act of communication between communities of nations in the world
has played an extraordinary role. It is difficult to imagine what kind of interaction model
would help the communication of world citizens if there were no translation bridges as has
been done so far. In the golden age of Islam, translation activities played an extremely
important role in advancing science and technology. It was the translators who also played a
role as part of the chain that triggered the renaissance in the West and Europe. In this third
millennium, Japan, as an icon of a nation that is economically advanced, science and
technology, for example, has also benefited a lot from the skilled hands of its translators.
Many other countries, developed and developing countries, also do and experience the same
thing.
In Indonesia, there are already many people who are increasingly proficient in using
English in various situations and conditions. students feel helped by the existence of an
automatic translation machine, which means that machine translation is useful for students.
And many of the students use Google Translate as a translation tool because it is easy to
access, free and has complete features. However, this does not mean that every user of this
language can translate well from Indonesian to English and vice versa.
Technological developments in the 21st century are very massive, including
developments in developing translation assistance machines. The creation of this translation
machine makes translation activities easier, this is what then makes a translation machine
called an automatic translation machine. There are many translation machines connected to
the internet, both paid and not, such as Google Translate, Bing Translator, Sederet, ProZ,
Translator Café, and so on (Putrawan, 2017: 15). Each of these translation machines has its
own advantages and disadvantages.
One of the most well-known and most accessible translation engines is Google
Translate (Precup-Stiegelbauer, 2013: 1). Someone using this GT engine can easily translate
a document from one language to another. Apart from that, Kardimin also said that GT is the
most widely used translation machine in the world (2013: 269). In general, it is known that
GT is a machine translation based on SMT or statistical machine translation, in which the
input data entered by the user will be statically recognized by the sentence pattern and
translated based on the recognized pattern and the suitability of the pattern between the target
language and the source language. The pattern in question is, of course, the grammatical
static pattern recognized by GT. The new patterns entered by the user will be entered into the
machine's memory which will become development suggestions for the progress and validity
of the translation machine in the future.
Apart from GT, there is a translation machine issued by a well-known company,
Microsoft, namely Microsoft translator. However, in use, this machine is integrated with
various consumers and developers so that each product has a different name and designation.
One product from Microsoft that works in the field of translation is Bing Translator. This BT
has almost the same features as Google Translate, it can translate words, sentences,
paragraphs, to a complete text in a fraction of a second. Like GT, the input that can be
entered in this tool can be in the form of text, live speech or conversation, text to speech, and
images. Another similarity is that this Bing Translator also has a Neural system, or NMT
(“Microsoft Translator Languages - Microsoft Translator,” 2019) and has an input limit of
5000 words per single use. In addition, this application also only requires an internet
connection to use and is free.
With so many similarities between the two automatic translation machines, will the
translation results be the same or vice versa. From here the author will test the results of the
translation of these two machines by entering input in the form of text. This study aims to
explain the comparison of the translation results of two translation machines, Google
Translate and Bing Translator.
From the description above, research on the translation of texts from English into
Indonesian and texts from Indonesian into English is important to do to find out what
methods and types of translation are used by two different translation engines (Google
Translate and Bing Translator). ) which are both machine translation applications from two
well-known companies, Google Translate owned by Google and Bing Translator owned by
Microsoft, which have almost the same features and are also free.
Methodology
This study uses a qualitative approach. Qualitative approaches generally take the form
of deliberate sampling, open data collection, analysis of text or images, presentation of
information in the form of pictures and tables, as well as personal interpretation of the
findings. More specifically, this study uses a comparative analysis procedure.
This research was conducted in several steps. First, reading and reviewing the source
text (ST) and target text (TT). The target text is a translation of Indonesian and English text,
then translated using Google Translate and Bing Translator. Second, comparing the
translation of the results of machine translations from Google Translate and Bing Translator.
Third, assessing which text is more accurate in every text translation generated by Google
Translate and Bing Translator engines.
Google Translate
Speed:
From the long sentence above, the Google translator machine managed to translate it in
a fairly short time, which only needed 00:00:52 seconds, while Bing translator took 00:01:45
seconds.
Accuracy (grammatically):
From the long sentences above, Google Translate provides satisfying results and is
closer to the human translation method, whereas by using the Bing translator, users still have
to first understand some of the words and even the resulting sentences because some are not
easy to understand directly.
From the table above, it is found that there are differences in translation using a google
translate and translations using bing translator, and there are differences in terms of the
language style used and the use of different vocabulary. The researcher also found several
translation inequalities in the translation results using google translate and translations using
bing translator, as in the sentence: “Salju berasal dari butiran-butiran air hujan yang belum
turun ke bumi”. “Dan pada saatnya kristalan itu akan turun ke bumi seperti hujan”. and in the
sentence, “Salju akan bertahan pada suhu sekitar 0º Celsius. Apabila tidak pada suhu dingin,
salju akan meleleh”.

And in the sentence: “Moreover, it has a manta point dive that is, a place for divers to swim

This dissimilarity occurs due to differences in the style of language used. The two
translations above still have a few grammatical errors that make the translation less
acceptable. However, Bing Translator's grammatical errors are more numerous than Google
Translate's translations.
Conclusion
Machine translation is the process of using artificial intelligence to automatically
translate text from one language to another without human involvement. Modern machine
translation goes beyond a simple word-to-word translation to communicate the overall
meaning of the original language text in the target language. Machine translation analyzes all
elements of the text and recognizes how words affect one another.
This study aims to explain the comparison of the translation results of two translation
machines, Google Translate and Bing Translator. This study uses a qualitative content
analysis method with a comparative model of text.
From the discussion above, it is found that there are differences in translation using a
google translate and translations using bing translator, and there are differences in terms of
the language style used and the use of different vocabulary. The researcher also found several
translation inequalities in the translation results using google translate and translations using
bing translator.
