Water Transports

Water transport has historically been an important mode of transportation. There are currently about 10 types of waterway transports in use. The three most popular types are container ships, yachts, and boats. Container ships are large cargo vessels that carry all their loads in containers and transport around 90% of cargo worldwide. Yachts are pleasure boats used for entertainment that can be quite expensive. Boats generally refer to smaller inland watercraft like those used for fishing or transportation on rivers and lakes. While water transport has advantages like large cargo capacity and route flexibility, it also has disadvantages such as weather dependence and an inability to reach destinations not near ports. Overall, water transport continues to play a key economic and transportation role despite some limitations.
