INTRODUCTION
Background of the Study
The assessment in AutoCAD allows you to demonstrate your
knowledge of the skills you’ve added on your profile. Job posters on Linked in
can also add Skill Assessments as part of the job application process. This
allows job posters to more efficiently and accurately verify the crucial skills a
candidate should have for a role. The AutoCAD test measures a person's
skills in AutoCAD. It speeds up your recruitments by allowing you to quickly
assess the skills of your candidates on AutoCAD. It is made up of different
types of questions reproducing situations encountered in a professional
environment. The computer-aided design software, the most common
example is AutoCAD. program. It has numerous benefits. drafting construction

drawings Computer training should be provided for lecturers.
Courses in awareness the machine University machines are
insufficient. in contrast to student enrollment renewal courses in computer
usage basic technology could be available for the teacher. Computer literacy
courses for AutoCAD students should be taught in a way that computer can
be used for all engineering drawing related courses; this will give them
confidences on the use of computer in teaching AutoCAD. AutoCAD
laboratories should be established where there are none so that lecturers can
have proper and hands-on training on the use of computers for teaching
engineering Drawing.

Statement of the Problem
This study aimed to investigate the title of study Specifically, this
answered the following questions:
1. What are the socio-demographic profiles of the respondents in terms of the
following aspects;
1.1 Age
1.2 Gender
1.3 Year Level of the BIT respondents
2. How do students perceived the assessment on the technical drawing skills
in AutoCAD to the BIT students of MSU-MSAT?
3. Is there a significant relationship between the respondent's demographic
profile to the assessment on technical drawing skills?
4. Is there a significant relationship between the student's perceived impact to
the assessment on the technical drawing skills in AutoCAD to the BIT
students?
Theoretical Framework
This research is providing supporting information on the Technical
Drawing Skills on AutoCAD in MSU-MSAT, supported by theories, concepts,
principles teaching and learning to assist the drafting instructor to asses and
evaluate.
Technical Drawing Skills is a medium in communication among
technologies, engineers, architectures, technicians and so on and is widely
used in many fields and professions. Through the ages, architects and
designers, including Leonardo Da Vinci, created technical drawings. But a
French mathematician name Gaspard Monge is considered by many to be the
founder of modern technical drawing. It’s generally assumed that people
either have a talent for drawing or they don’t, and when they do they learn in
an organic way over time. There’s a sort of mystique around the idea of
drawing. More magic than science.
In the excellent book Drawing on the Right side of the Brain, Betty Edwards
writes in the introduction, the field of drawing has been, at least during the last
fifty years, increasingly extended and intensified to include drawing production
and drawing reflection. Both the production of drawings and the critical
assessment of their inherent meanings have become part of an intense
disciplinary debate involving architects, artists, scholars, and philosophers.
Within the architectural discipline, precisely the understanding that drawing
and theory are intrinsically related has resulted in the continuous reflection on
the relationship between thinking and drawing, or, more abstractly, on how the
specific means of representation relate to specific conceptions of space.
(Louvre, Paris, 1990/91), Jacques Derrida extensively clarified this aspect of
drawing, focusing on the relationship between the mind’s eye and the hand.
Derrida compared drawing to writing and regarded ‘anticipation’ as a
‘projected grasping i.e. a touching that is oriented forward into an unknown, as
the most fundamental act of drawing. drawing research with a focus on
contemporary practice and its theoretical context. This journal seeks to
reestablish the materiality of drawing as a medium at a time when virtual, on-
line, and electronic media dominates visually and communication. The journal
represents drawing as a significant discipline in its own right and in a diversity
of forms: as an experimental practice, as research, as representation and/or
documentation, as historical and/or theoretical exploration, as process or as
performance. It explores the drawing discipline across fine art, science and
engineering, media and communication, psychology, architecture, design,
science and technology, textiles, fashion, social and cultural practices on
students. (Gaspard Monge,1799).

The AutoCAD Application on Students Performance in Technical
Drawing for Sustainable Development in Nigeria. According to Nigerian Online
Journal of Educational Sciences and Technology 1 (1), 34-44, 2020 in the
article Effect of AutoCAD Application on Students in performance in Technical
Drawing for sustainable development in Nigeria. Two research objectives, two
research questions were raised and two null hypotheses were formulated and
tested in the study. A quasi-experimental design was used for this study. The
population of the study was 1,521 first-year senior secondary school students
of the nine senior secondary schools that have computer laboratories and
offering Technical Drawing. Ninety senior secondary students from three
selected schools in the three senatorial zones in Niger State were used as the
sample. Twenty multiple-choice questions and two practical questions in the
Technical Drawing Achievement Test. The reliability coefficient of the
instrument was found to be 0.91 using Kudar-Richardson formula 2 (KR 21)
which shows that the test items are reliable. Mean, and the standard deviation
was used to answer the research questions and Analysis of Covariance
(ANCOVA) was used to test the two null hypotheses. Null hypotheses were
tested at 0.05 level of significance. The findings of the study revealed among
others that, there was a significant difference between the pre-test and post-
test results in the objective test. Similarly, the study revealed that there was a
significant difference between the pre-test and post-test results of the practical
test for Technical Drawing students. Based on the findings it was
recommended that Technical Drawing teachers should be trained in the use
of AutoCAD Application in teaching Technical Drawing through workshops,
seminars, and induction courses to be organized by the Ministry of Education.
The research instrument consisted of observation sheets to observe
student learning activities, rubrics to assess students' skills in using CAD, and
tests. Data is analyzed with descriptive statistics. The results of learning
activities in the first cycle are in the sufficient category and in the second cycle
are in the active category. Meanwhile the results of learning technical
drawings in the first cycle are still in the sufficient category. After reflection
and next actions, the results of learning technical drawings in the second
cycle have been increased with a high category. This means the application of
assessment for learning can improve learning activities and student learning
outcomes on engineering drawing using Computer Aid Design (CAD).
(Ambiyar, Refdinal 2013).
Computers have revolutionized the way documents are generated.
Similarly, Information technology is bound to revolutionize the way people
exchange information and documents. Information technology (IT) is defined
as the use of electronic machines and programs for the processing, storage,
transfer and presentation of information” (Bork,1999). IT encompasses many
technologies such as computers, software, networks and even telephones
and fax machines. The purpose of IT is to facilitate the exchange and
management of information process component of the construction industry.
These recent Technologies will undoubtedly have profound impact on how
organizations operate on the daily basis. (FRN2004) Education systems all
over the world are under increasing pressure to use the new information and
communication technologies to teach students the knowledge and skills they
need in the 21st century (UNESCO,2009). UNESCO described the radical
implications the new information and communication technologies have over
the convectional flux, it is compelling to monitor from time to time the
competencies and skills required for efficient performance. The emergence of
information and communication technology has bought with it changes in work
processes as well as the process of imparting and acquiring knowledge, The
resultant effect is the rendering of previous knowledge and competencies
obsolete,
Teaching is a means to learning, it process of making it possible for
someone to learn. OBI,T.E.C (2000) contended that teaching involves guiding
students to learn. Learning, according to Okorie, J.U (2000) is an active
process which goes on within the learner by guiding his/her experience
through planned activities. The students start to learn when he/she becomes
deeply involved in the learning situation. Learning means a process through
which behavior is initiated, modified or changed. The process of learning
takes place in the learner’s brain and cannot seen as learned behavior. A
student being taught drawing in class can only show evidence or learning by
personally reproducing the drawing,
Drawing generally is a graphical representation of a real thing, and idea
or a proposed design for construction. Drawing has developed along two
purposes namely artistic and technical ( Giesecke,et al, 1967 in Ede, 2005).
The application of computer as well as other tools in education is the process
of using them to aid the teaching/learning process. Chinien, C. (2003). In the
work place, technology has significantly change the way we go about our
every day jobs, in design the introduction of computers and computer
software has identified new and exciting was to go about the design process.
Computers have contributed to design for quite a while by providing
analysis tools, data-bases and computer-aided drafting tools. Since its
introduction 1960s CAD tools have been developed to more user friendly
programs and today in higher institution. Autocad or commonly known as
Computer aided design is a software application for writing and design 2D and
3D. He came to stage during the month of December nineteen hundred and
eighty two (1982).
In January 1993, we received NSF funding to develop a pre-graphics
course for freshman engineering majors who are weak in 3-D spatial
visualization skills. A text and computer lab exercises utilizing I-DEAS
software were written specifically for this course. The course is 3-credits
(quarter system) with two hours of lecture and two hours of computer lab each
week. It was offered at Michigan Technological University (MTU) for the first
time during the 1993 Fall term and has been offered each fall since that time.
The objective of the course is to provide the prerequisite spatial skills needed
by students to succeed in their subsequent engineering graphics courses.
Assessment for the course has been continuous. Recently, a six-year
longitudinal study was conducted to determine the overall success of this
project. This paper will describe the project and the assessment findings from
the longitudinal study.
The quality of students work be improved through training in self-
assessment practices? This paper considers the impact of training high
school students on their performance in external examinations. Teachers
were selected from a sample of high schools and trained in how to develop
students' self-assessment skills. Ten high Schools representative of the top,
middle and bottom levels of academic achievement in national examinations
were chosen and students trained in self-assessment by their normal class
teachers as part of their final year curriculum. An experimental group
comprising 256 participants received formal training in self-assessment skills
for the entire three terms of the academic year. A control group was selected
from matched classes not receiving such training. A significant difference
favouring those trained in self-assessment was found overall and in each
curriculum area. While it is demonstrated that self-assessment training can
have an impact on student performance the paper considers the
circumstances of the study and whether similar outcomes might be possible in
less favourable conditions.
The aviation domain provides a better analogy for the temporary teams
that are found in acute medical specialities than industrial or military teamwork
research based on established teams. Crew resource management (CRM)
training, which emphasises portable skills (for whatever crew a pilot is
rostered to on a given flight), has been recognised to have potential
application in medicine, especially for teams in the operating theatre, intensive
care unit, and emergency room. Drawing on research from aviation
psychology that produced the behavioural marker system NOTECHS for
rating European pilots’ non-technical skills for teamwork on the flightdeck, this
paper outlines the Anaesthetists Non-Technical Skills behavioural rating
system for anaesthetists working in operating theatre teams. This taxonomy
was used as the design basis for a training course, Crisis Avoidance
Resource Management for Anaesthetists used to develop these skills, based
in an operating theatre simulator. Further developments of this training
programmed for teams in emergency medicine are outlined.

However, the Measuring Technical Drawing Capability through Online
Learning as a Basic Competency for Vocational Students. According to
( Sukandar hasan suartin, 2020)
The ability to read projection systems and describe projections of real
objects in two-dimensional space are two important things that can lead
potential engineering personnel to become professional vocational personnel
in mechanical engineering. Therefore, this research is conducted to measure
these abilities based on online learning activities in mechanical engineering
drawing. There are two research variables used, namely reading and drawing
on projection material. The quantitative descriptive method is used to process
data on learning outcomes from these two variables collected from the online
survey through structured assignments given to students. It can be concluded
that the students could understand basic competency learning activities of
projection images and complete drawing work which is distributed online
properly. They could also complete the assignments according to the
specified time given. Thus, drawing technique practices in the era of reality
and virtual integration does not always require direct guidance from the
supervisor. The online vocational education model can be developed for
technology fields that require engineering technology skills in collaboration
with the industry.
In addition, the study investigated the effect of AutoCAD on students’
interest and level of engagement in Technical Drawing in Unity Schools in
Rivers State. The study adopted the 2-group post-test only quasi-
experimental design. Ninety-two (92) Technical Drawing students from two
Unity Schools drawn from a population of 1071 were purposively sampled.
Two research questions were answered while two hypotheses were tested at
0.05 level of significance. The instrument used for data collection was
Technical Drawing Structured Questionnaire (TDSQ). The TDSQ was made
up of two sections, A and B, which measured students’ interest and
engagement towards AutoCAD usage in Technical Drawing. A reliability co-
efficient of 0.72 was obtained using Cronbach Alpha. Mean and standard
deviation were used to answer the research questions, while independent t-
test was used to test the hypotheses. The findings revealed among others
that AutoCAD had a significant effect on students’ interest and level of
engagement in Technical Drawing. Based on the findings, it was
recommended that Technical Drawing teachers, and school Administrators
should employ necessary measures to sustain the positive attitude of students
towards the use of AutoCAD in Technical Drawing.
This study accessed skills of Higher National Diploma Graduates of
Automobile Technology in North Central States of Nigeria. Two research
questions and two null hypotheses were formulated, tested at 0.05 level of
significant to guide the study. A cross-sectional survey research design was
used for the study. All accessible population was purposively selected for the
study. It comprised of 70 Heads of Departments, 60 supervisors and 430
Graduates totaling 560 respondents working in Automobile Industries.
Validated questionnaire was used to elicit responses from respondents. The
data collected was analyzed using mean and standard deviation to answer
the two research questions, while two hypotheses were tested using, one–
way ANOVA and Post Hoc Test of Homogenous subsets statistics. The
findings revealed that graduates were skillful in design of automobile vehicle
parts and in the interpretation of engineering drawing of automobile vehicle
components. However, there was significant difference in the mean ratings of
the respondents in which Heads of Departments rated graduates higher. It
was recommended that the graduates should improve in the application of
basic tools in Auto-CAD to design and interpreted computer programming of
automobile components. According to (Nigeria, 2015)
This article provides an overview of some of the recent developments in
assessing social skills of children and youth, as well as a discussion of "best
practices" in conducting assessment and linking assessment to effective
intervention. Naturalistic behavioral observation and behavior rating scales
are proposed as the 2 assessment methods that should be considered
primary or "first-line" choices for social skills assessment. A review of some
specific tools that have been developed within these 2 assessment methods
is provided. Interviewing and sociometric techniques, although not necessarily
primary methods of assessment for children's social skills, sometimes may be
an important part of an assessment design, or "second-line" choices.
Projective-expressive techniques or objective self-report instruments for
assessing children's social skills sometimes may help illuminate the overall
assessment results but should never be used as primary assessment
methods for social skills; thus, these methods are considered "third-line"
methods for this purpose. Six best-practices recommendations, all of which
are supported by previous empirical research, are offered for improving social
skills assessment efforts. Finally, conclusions are drawn regarding the current
state of the art in social skills assessment, as well as implications for future
directions in this area. Clearly, the challenge facing researchers and
practitioners who are concerned with this area will be to make assessment
"functional" and link it to intervention more effectively.
The aim of this study was to develop and validate a new self-assessment
questionnaire (SAQ) for basic technical drawing skills based on the Technical
Drawing Evaluation Grid (TDEG) (Metraglia, Baronio & Villa, 2011). One
hundred and seventeen first-year engineering students completed the TDEG-
SAQ (first version) at the end of a training course of technical drawing. Eight
factors relating to different skills were identified. Reliability analysis ranged
from 0.74 to 0.92 for the questionnaire factors and was 0.96 for the overall
questionnaire. Concurrent validity analysis showed the ability of the
questionnaire to distinguish between genders and high school diplomas.

METHODOLOGY
This chapter presents the research design, research settings, respondent of
the study, sampling procedure, Data gathering techniques, and Statistical
treatment.
Research Design
This study used the descriptive design to collect and analyzed data that
best suited the condition. The descriptive method was very essential because
it can gather data on the current condition that was investigated in the study.
The researcher made use of the qualitative method through an interview to
create a more in-depth picture of the phenomena.
Research Settings
This study was conducted at Mindanao State University- Maigo School
of Arts and Trades (MSU-MSAT) located at Maigo, Lanao del Norte which
offers a curriculum program for BIT students specifically Bachelor of Industrial
Technology major in Drafting Technology. Moreover, the researchers chose
this locale because the said institution utilized Technical Drawing skills in
AutoCAD for Bachelor of Industrial Technology majoring Drafting Technology
students.
This research is conducted at Mindanao State University – Maigo
School of Arts and Trade particularly in the Department of Industrial
Technology.
MSU-MSAT is a state university campus that was originally Maigo High
School, founded in the academic year 1948–1949 by the Parent–Teacher
Association. The college consists of four departments and these are
Department of Industrial Technology, Department of Computer Science
Department and Department of Natural Sciences and Mathematics,
Department of Humanities, Education and Social Sciences and the
Department of Hotel and Restaurant Management and Technology.
The Department of Industrial Technology has seven (7) courses and
one of them is the Bachelor of Industrial Technology major in Drafting
Technology, of which uses both traditional drawing and computer-aided
drafting (CAD) to provide the pupils a thorough understanding of drafting.
Respondent of the study
The respondents of the study were selected 7 students in 3 rd year and
8 students in 4th year a total of 15 students in Bachelor of Industrial
Technology majoring Drafting Technology students of MSU - Maigo School of
Arts and Trades (MSU-MSAT).

Sampling Procedure
The researcher utilized a simple random sampling technique known as
the fish ball or lottery method, in which list of names is rolled in the paper by
numbers in alphabetical order and place in a bowl and with those papers,
names are drawn randomly. The stratification was based on the students in
Bachelor of Industrial Technology major in Drafting. The total population of
Drafting students from 3rd year to 4th year were 45, the selection of students
was by simple random sampling to avoid being unfair or biased.
A proportionate stratified random sampling technique was employed to
select 7 students from 3rd year, and 8 students from 4 th year. There are three
(3) instructor who will be the evaluator, Instructor Jalil Benito, Instructor
Medico Estaño, Instructor Maria Amavin Yurong.
Data Gathering Techniques
The data of this research was collected using a survey questionnaire.
The Survey was created using suitable questions modified from related
research and individual questions formed by the researcher. The survey was
comprised of questions, which related to respondent’s personal experiences.
Scoring Procedure
The total number of responses given by the respondents is 45 out of 15
students who major in drafting technology.

Statistical Treatment
In the presentation of data, the study utilized different graphs or charts.
In contrast, the researcher used descriptive statistical tools such as frequency
count, percentage, and ranking to analyze and interpret data. The frequency
count and percentage were used to quantitatively describe and analyze the
responses given by the respondents.
Frequency Distribution and Simple Percentage Formula:
P = F/N × 100
where, P = percentage;
F = frequency of responses;
N = population;
100 = constant
Furthermore, weighted mean was used to determine the average value
of the responses in each item of the given responses.
Weighted Mean Formula:
x= (Σw (x))/Σw
where, x = mean value;
∑ = summation;
w = observed frequency;
x = frequency expected
