Description
Our event, School Level Hackathon 2080, is not just a
competition; it's a dynamic and immersive experience
designed to bring together diverse minds, fostering
collaboration and innovation. This hackathon serves as a
platform for individuals to contribute towards the greater
good, utilizing the tool of the 21st century – technology. It
is a gathering where visionary thinkers, tech-savvy
individuals, and passionate activists unite to address and
solve pressing challenges.

Our initiative aims to inspire and engage the young


generation within the Kathmandu Valley (or perhaps the
entire country) by harnessing their creativity and
technical skills to address real-world problems. With the
support of mentors and resources, participants will have
everything they need to create groundbreaking solutions.

INTRODUCTION
We, Shaswot Lamichhane and Vedansh Baranwal, are delighted to
invite your organization to collaborate on Nepal’s first-ever School
Level Hackathon along with the Ujwal Thapa Foundation. Our vision
aligns with the Foundation's goal to keep Ujwal's legacy alive by
providing a platform to continue his efforts in various sectors,
ultimately building empowered, empathetic, and entrepreneurial
societies.

OBJECTIVES
1. Tackling Real-World Problems: Our hackathon goes beyond
theoretical problems by focusing on real societal issues. The true
potential of coding lies in its ability to address and solve pressing
problems faced by our communities.
2. Inspiring Future Builders: The primary objective is to ignite a
passion for technology and innovation among the young minds,
inspiring them to explore the vast possibilities offered by coding
and technology for problem-solving and creating a positive
impact.
3. Fostering Collaboration and Leadership: The hackathon places
great emphasis on teamwork, collaboration, and leadership
development. Participants will have the opportunity to work in
teams, encouraging them to leverage each other's strengths and
develop leadership qualities.
4. Promoting Social Impact and Community Engagement: We are
deeply committed to creating a positive impact in society.
Through our hackathon, we aim to instil a sense of social
responsibility and empathy in our participants.

REGISTRATIONS
Eligibility: Open to students up to grade 12 (at the
time of registration) from schools within the
Kathmandu Valley (or within the entire country if
feasible).

Registration Process: Participants can register online


through our user-friendly website [domain:
hackathon.ujwalthapafoundation.org].

Registration Fee: A nominal registration fee of NPR


250 per participant will be applicable. UTF
scholarships can be provided to needy participants.

Team Formation: Participants are required to form


teams of four members each.

Beyond challenges, lies innovation.


EVENT TIMELINE
Announcement and Registration Period: The hackathon
will be announced, and the registration period will open
as soon as the initial planning is complete.

Pre-Event Preparation: Participants will be provided with


relevant resources, including problem statements,
guidelines, and recommended learning materials. A
preliminary boot camp session may be conducted if
required.

Hackathon Development Phase: Participants will have a


dedicated period of one month to work on their projects,
involving brainstorming, coding, testing, and refining their
solutions.

Submission Deadline: Participants will submit their final


projects a week before the event for evaluation and
judging.

Judging and Evaluation: A distinguished panel of judges


will evaluate the projects based on predefined criteria.

Showcase Event and Winners Announcement: The


hackathon will culminate in a grand showcase event
where participants will present their projects to a wider
audience.

RESOURCES AND SUPPORT
Problem Statement and Guidelines: Clear problem
statements, along with comprehensive guidelines, will be
provided to participants at the beginning of the
hackathon.
Mentorship and Guidance: Participants will receive
necessary support and guidance throughout the
hackathon from experienced mentors.
Testing and Deployment Support: Guidance and
resources on testing methodologies and deployment
strategies will be provided.

EVALUATION
The evaluation process will be transparent, fair, and based on
predefined criteria, including impact and scalability,
problem-solving, technical implementation, functionality
and user experience, and presentation and communication.

Project Showcase: The hackathon will culminate in a


captivating showcase event where participants will
demonstrate their projects to a distinguished audience.

Collaboration Opportunities: The event serves as a stepping

Social Media and Online Platforms: Leveraging the Ujwal


Thapa Foundation's Hackathon online presence, including
social media platforms and the foundation's website, will be
done to promote and highlight the projects developed during
the hackathon.

Media Coverage: Engagement with local media outlets,


newspapers, and online publications will be proactive to share
inspiring stories of the hackathon and the projects developed.

Collaborative Events: Opportunities will be explored to


participate in collaborative events, conferences, or exhibitions.
