between CSMA/CD
3. Why are acks used in 802.11 but not in wired Ethe rnet? What is the difference

4. What is the difference between a master device in a Bluetooth network and an AP in an 802.11
network?
Wi-Fi Problem
9. There are only two nodes, one source and one destination, connected via an 802.11 LAN using
RTS/CTS of packets of all sizes. The source node has a large amount of data to send to the
destination. Nodes are separated by 750m. There is no transmission error. Compute the data
throughput if the packet size is 1100 byte of data, Propagation
speed=310°m/sec, the header size
is 200 bytes, link transmission rate 1IMbps, Ack, RTS, CTS take
200us to transmit.
LTE Problems
Coverage of 8
Coverage of C
Each node has a supply of infinite messages. If A wants to send a message to D, then it should go
A’B’ C ’ D. Time is slotted. A message takes one slot to transmit. During a slot, a user can
transmit or receive or remain silent. If a node hears two or more transmissions simultaneously, a
collision occurs. There are no errorsin transmission. A central controller can control all nodes.
(a) What is the maximum rate at which node A can transmit to C with no other transmission?
(b) What is the maximum sum transmission rate for the linksA ’ B and D ’ C?
(c) If the transmission is A’ B, C’D, then what is the maximum sum rate?
(d) If the wireless links are changed to wired links, answer all (a)-(c).
(e) If Ack needs to be sent from each destination for each packet, then again solve (a)-(c).
