CONSTRUCTION METHODOLOGY

PROJECT TITLE: PROPOSED AFBB SMOKESTACK PILE CAP MODIFICATION

INTRODUCTION
The Nestle Philippines is proposing a Proposed AFBB Smokestack Pile Cap Modification
Located at AFBB.

As responsible for the implementation and successful completion of the project, the
contractor needs to know the basic development of construction, maintenance and safety
through effective management to deliver a quality project to the client. This construction
methodology details the preparation for the commencement of work from the beginning
until the end of the duration of project.

CONSTRUCTION ACTIVITIES

PRE-CONSTRUCTION PHASE

a. Preparation for the Project Implementation Plan.


b. Inspect the area, Coordinate, Identify and Prepare Warehouse/staging area.
c. Prepare and Inspect Materials, Tools and PPE’s.
d. Inspect the area where work will take place.
e. Secure Work Permit (Change of Management, Ground Disturbance, Hot Work).
f. Mobilize all equipment (e.g. Service Truck, Heavy Equipment’s) and materials needed
for the all the activities for the implementation.

CONSTRUCTION PHASE

1. Mobilization
1.1 Site Preparation, Staking and lay-out.
1.2 Established survey control and setting out.
1.3 Preparation of tools and signage’s in working area.
1.4 Mobilize of Manpower, Materials, Tools and Equipment needed in the project.

2. Temporary Enclosure/Fence
2.1 Preparation of tools and materials.
2.2 Assembling of G.I. Scaffold and Bracing.
2.3 Assembling of rain protection shed.
2.4 Install corrugated sheets as enclosure.

3. Scaffolding Works
3.1 Preparation of Tools and Materials.
3.2 Scaffolders and helpers during the whole duration of activities must wear proper
PPE.
3.3 Setting of base jack on vertical , horizontal and diagonal supports.
3.4 Anchor the scaffolding frames to the existing structures in order to have more strong
supports during the lifting down of demolished materials.
3.5 Installation of ladders, grab rails, platforms and toe boards.
3.6 Install End caps in horizontal supports, railings and barricades.
3.7 Review all installation.
3.8 Inform scaffolds inspector for approval.
4. Demolition Works ( Smoke stack and Pile Cap )
4.1 Preparation of Tools, Materials and PPE.
4.2 Determine the size and dimension of the materials to be dismantled / demolished
which is equal to 50 kgs.
4.3 Demolition / dismantling existing smokestack done by segment and layer.
4.4 Lifting down of demolished / dismantled material by means of Chain block.
4.5 After the completion in the demolition / dismantling of smoke stack, Removal of
scaffoldings will follow.
4.6 Clearing the whole area.
4.7 Removal of existing Base plate, stiffener plate and anchor bolts.
4.8 Disposal of demolished materials by manual handling using push cart to designated
areas.
4.9 Chipping / Demolition of existing concrete pavement, pile cap and bored pile
4.10 Disposal of demolished materials outside NPI compound.

5. Earthworks
5.1 Preparation of Tools and Materials.
5.2 Excavation works of additional depth of the foundation up to 0.75 meters from the
bottom of the existing foundation.
5.3 Levelling, trimming and Compaction.
5.4 Gravel bidding and compaction.
5.5 Disposal of excavated materials outside NPI compound.

6. Concreting Works
6.1 Preparation of Tools and Materials.
6.2 Installation of forms including supports and braces.
6.3 Installation of rebar’s.
6.4 Setting of baseplate or baseplate pattern and anchor bolts.
6.5 Concrete pouring of new pile cap.
6.6 Curing of concrete.
6.7 Removal of forms, braces and supports after 24 hrs.
6.8 Backfilling, levelling of the affected areas around the new pile cap.
6.9 Concreting of the affected areas around the new pile cap.

7. Demobilization
7.1 Dismantling of enclosures.
7.2 Pull-out of all tools and equipment.
7.3 Cleaning.
