2.0 About the Induction Program

Education plays a vital role in a Country’s progress. The conventional pattern of attending the

classes passively and focusing on just good grades in the examinations is treated as an

obsolete exercise in today’s world. It is said that all human beings are endowed with unique

talents and traits. The role of a teacher is to facilitate students to achieve their goals by

nurturing the talents and traits hidden in them. It is believed that the inherent talent and core

competency should come together to make education meaningful, holistic, productive and

fulfilling. The aim of an engineering college is not just to make competent engineers, in

addition to it to groom knowledgeable knowledgeable and well cultured cultured men and

women, fit to radiate the fragrance of their learning among people of our Country. In this

direction , Induction program is an effort for integrating new student into the Institution by

giving him basic information he needs for settling down quickly and work for his academic

success by adjusting his interests with those of the Institution. In this regard as per the

guidelines of Visvesvaraya Technological University and AICTE, the first phase of mandatory

10 days Induction Program was conducted for second semester students of the Academic year

2023. The details of the activities conducted and out comes of the Induction program is

presented in this report.

IMPORTANCE OF YOGA

Yoga improves strength, balance and flexibility.Slow movements and deep breathing increase
blood flow and warm up muscles, while holding a pose can build strength. Balance on one
foot, while holding the other foot to your calf or above the knee (but never on the knee) at a
right angle.
Over the last few decades, there has been an upsurge in the prevalence of yoga. Medical
professionals and celebrities are also adopting and recommending the regular practice of yoga
due its various benefits. While some regard yoga as simply one more prevailing fashion and
associate it with the new age mysticism, others vouch for how astonishing this form of
exercise feels. What they don't understand is that what they see as simply just another form of
exercise will profit them in ways they never envisioned.

Before we get into the benefits of Yoga, it is essential to understand what exactly Yoga really
is. Yoga is not a religion, it’s a way of living that aims towards a healthy mind in a healthy
body. Man is a physical, mental and spiritual being; Yoga helps in developing the balance
between all the three as stated in Ayurveda in India. Other forms of exercise, like aerobics,
only assure physical wellbeing. These exercises have very little to do with the improvement
of spiritual or astral body.

Yoga is not just about bending or twisting the body and holding the breath. It is a technique to
bring you into a state where you see and experience reality simply the way it is. If you enable
your energies to become exuberant and ecstatic, your sensory body expands. This enables you
to experience the whole universe as a part of yourself, making everything one, this is the
union that yoga .

The training and placement cell is a necessary aspect for a student while getting enrolled in
any college. From the student perspective, high-quality placements can offer a range of
benefits, positive impacts, and lots of opportunities. Nowadays, Start-ups and organizations
want to hire students with highly spontaneous skills during the recruitment process. It ensures
that professionals they have are highly qualified with the unconventional approach to critical
problem-solving. In such a situation, the placement cell identifies these skills by interacting
with a human resource manager of a specific industry and prepares every student to make
them industry-ready.

Energy has been universally recognised as one of the most important input for any economic
growth and human development. Considering universal energy access and energy security as
one of the fundamental development goals for the country, the Govt. of India has undertaken
a multi prolonged approach to cater the rising energy demand ensuring minimum growth in
carbon emission. Energy Efficiency plays a significant role in meeting the rising energy
demand in a sustainable manner.
The Energy Conservation Act (EC Act), 2001 was enacted on 1st October 2001(effect on 1st
March 2002) with the overall objective to provide necessary legal framework for promoting
efficient use energy and its conservation Bureau of Energy Efficiency (BEE) was setup by the
Govt. of India with mandate to develop and implement energy efficiency schemes and
programs under the provisions of Energy Conservation Act, 2001.
Bureau of Energy Efficiency (BEE) has initiated a numbers of programs such as Energy
Conservation Building Code (ECBC), Perform, Achieve & Trade Scheme (PAT), Demand

Resource Person Dr Sathish V

Date 02.06.2023

Platform Offline, Venue: BGSCET Auditorium

Title: Application of data-driven methods in detection and isolation of wear induced faults in
Industrial robots
Abstract: Industrial robots are complex systems that require technical expertise for condition
monitoring and diagnostics. In small and medium scale industries, adequate skilled resources
may not be available to monitor the robots consistently. In such cases, domain experts can
provide maintenance advisory based on data collected through remote monitoring. The
objective of this talk is to share my work on application of data-driven approaches to detect
and identify the source of mechanical degradation in industrial robots using data typically
collected through remote monitoring.
Brief Biodata: Dr. Sathish V is working as Principal Engineer of Data analytics, Robotics
Field Operations and Services, ABB. Since 2006, Dr. Sathish has been associated with ABB
and has overall work experience of 23 years. His field of interest is in application of data-
driven methods for robotics field service. He received his PhD in computer science and
engineering from IIIT, Delhi.
