each other.

the magnetic flux that induces the current.

cause that produced it.
9. Assertion : Figure shows a horizontal solenoid connected to a battery and a switch. A copper ring is placed on a
smooth surface, the axis of the ring being horizontal. As the switch is closed, the ring will move away from the
solenoid.

Reason : Induced emf in the ring, e = - dΦ/dt

10. Assertion : Figure shows a metallic conductor moving in magnetic field. The induced emf across its ends is zero.

Reason : The induced emf across the ends of a conductor is given by e = Bvℓ sinθ.
11. Assertion : Eddy currents are produced in any metallic conductor when magnetic flux is changed around
it.
Reason : Electric potential determines the flow of charge.

12. Assertion : When number of turns in a coil is doubled, coefficient of self-inductance of the coil becomes
4 times.
Reason : This is because L α N2.
13. Assertion : Only a change in magnetic flux will maintain an induced current in the coil.
Reason : The presence of large magnetic flux through a coil maintain a current in the coil of the circuit is
continuous.
14. Assertion : The induced e.m.f. and current will be same in two identical loops of copper and aluminium,
when rotated with same speed in the same magnetic field.
Reason : Induced e.m.f. is proportional to rate of change of magnetic field while induced current depends on
resistance of wire.
15. Assertion : Self-inductance is called the inertia of electricity.
Reason : Self-inductance is the phenomenon, according to which an opposing induced e.m.f. is produced in
a coil as a result of change in current or magnetic flux linked in the coil.

16. Assertion : Induced emf will always occur whenever there is change in magnetic flux.
Reason : Current always induces whenever there is change in magnetic flux.
17. Assertion : When number of turns in a coil is doubled, coefficient of self-inductance of the coil becomes
4 times.
Reason : This is because L α N .2

18. Assertion : Lenz’s law violates the principle of conservation of energy.

Reason : Induced emf always opposes the change in magnetic flux responsible for its production..
19. Assertion : Acceleration of a magnet falling through a long solenoid decreases.
Reason : The induced current produced in a circuit always flow in such direction that it opposes the change
to the cause that produced it.

20.Assertion (A): Lenz’s law does not violate the principle of conservation of energy.
Reason (R): Induce e.m.f. never opposes the change in magnetic flux that causes the e.m.f.
21.Assertion (A): Self inductance may be called the inertia of electricity.
Reason (R): Due to self inductance, opposing induced emf is generated in a coil as a result of change in
current or magnetic flux linked with the coil.
22.Assertion (A): If the number of turns of a coil is increased, it becomes more difficult to push a bar
magnet towards the coil.
Reason (R): The difficulty faced is according to Lenz’s law.
23.Assertion(A): Faraday’s laws of electromagnetic induction are consequences of law of conservation of
energy.
Reason (R): The parameter LR in a L-R circuit has the dimension of time.
24.
Assertion (A): When the magnetic flux changes around a metallic conductor, the eddy current is produced.
Reason (R): Electric potential determines the flow of charge.
25 Assertion (A): When two identical loops of copper and Aluminium are rotated with same speed
in the same magnetic field, the induced e.m.f. will be same.
Reason (R): Resistance of the two loops are equal.

26 Assertion (A): When the magnetic flux changes around a metallic conductor, the eddy current
is produced.
Reason (R): Electric potential determines the flow of charge.
27 Assertion (A): Self inductance may be called the inertia of electricity.
Reason (R): Due to self inductance, opposing induced e.m.f. is generated in a coil as a result of
change in current or magnetic flux linked with the coil.
28 Assertion (A): If the number of turns of a coil is increased, it becomes more difficult to push a
bar magnet towards the coil.
Reason (R): The difficulty faced is according to Lenz’s law.
29 Assertion(A): Faraday’s laws of electromagnetic induction are consequences of law of
conservation of energy.
Reason (R): The parameter LR in a L-R circuit has the dimension of time.

30 Assertion: Eddy currents is produced in any metallic conductor when magnetic flux is changed
around it.
Reason: Electric potential determines the flow of charge.
31 Assertion : The quantity L/R possesses dimensions of time.
Reason : To reduce the rate of increases of current through a solenoid should increase the time
constant (L/R)
32 Assertion : Inductance coil are made of copper.
Reason : Induced current is more in wire having less resistance
33 Assertion : Self-inductance is called the inertia of electricity.
Reason : Self-inductance is the phenomenon, according to which an opposing induced e.m.f. is
produced in a coil as a result of change in current or magnetic flux linked in the coil.
34. Assertion : Acceleration of a magnet falling through a long solenoid decreases.
Reason : The induced current produced in a circuit always flow in such direction that it opposes the
change or the cause the produced it.
35 Assertion (A):In a phenomenon of mutual induction, self induction of each of the coil persists.
Reason (R): Self induction arises when strength of current in same coil changes. In mutual induction ,
current is changing in both the individual coils.

Assertion(A): A magnet is dropped along the axis of a circular
conducting loop as shown in figure. Then, acceleration
of magnet always greater than g.
Reason (R): When magnet is above the loop, then it will repel the
magnet and when it is below the loop, then it will attract
the magnet.
37 Assertion (A): The self inductance L of a solenoid of length l and
area of cross section A , with fixed number of turns N
increases as A increases.
Reason (R): Self inductance L of a solenoid is independent of
Number of turns N.
38 Assertion (A): Magnetic flux and electric flux have the same units
Reason (R): Flux passing through a surface gives an idea about the field lines crossing that surface.
39 Assertion (A):Eddy currents are undesirable.
Reason (R): Eddy currents heat up the core and dissipate electrical
energy in the form of heat.
