This document summarizes a DC motor driver board that utilizes the L298 IC driver chip to power motors and steppers from 5-35VDC using Arduino or other microcontrollers. It is designed to drive dual H-bridge motors at up to 2A per phase (25W total power). Onboard voltage regulation and header pins interface with logic signals and power. Jumpers allow selecting between an onboard 5V regulator or direct 7-35V power input. Pulse width modulation of enable pins allows software-controlled motor speed variation under 90% duty cycle.

OFF: 5V Supply to Motors & Driver
1 0 0 Stopped
Connect 5V power to +5 on Terminal Block
1 1 0 Forward NOTE : +5 terminal can be used to supply +5V to external circuits
1 0 1 Reverse When Power is supplied from External 7-35V Supply
1 1 1 Stopped And Jumper is set to “ON”
Setting EN Low will causes the motor to coast if running

PWM SPEED CONTROL

Motor speed can be controlled by connecting microcontroller PWM output Pin(s) to the appropriate EN pin
By varying the ON time by software, the motor speed can be varied. Recommend that Duty Cycle be <90%
