Introduction
Hazara University will award grants to research projects focused on applied research to address socio-
economic challenges, needs of the industry and specific issues faced by district Mansehra. The project should
contribute to the national development through innovation and commercialization.
These projects should be based on either universally known technologies or a new technology developed by
the applicant and should be aimed at achieving economically viable systems, products, or processes
beneficial to the nation. All teaching Departments of the Hazara University are encouraged to submit
Proposals on prescribed form available on www.hu.edu.pk/oric.

The grant will cover travel(s) within the country for project-related activities and for scientific conferences
where project team’s research paper, an outcome of the project, has been selected for presentation. The grant
may be used to purchase very specific unavoidable equipment kept to the bare minimum, consumable
materials, and other items needed for the project. The project funds shall not be utilized for purchase of
software.

Submission Procedure
Duly filled application proforma complete in all respects along with required documents should be submitted
in hard form to ORIC at HU. The project proposals must be submitted through proper channel before the date
fixed by the University.

Evaluation Procedure: On receipt of the applications the proposals will be evaluated internally by scrutiny
committee comprising all Deans, Director ORIC, Director A&R and experts in the field from outside of the
institution. The PI may need to revise the proposal in light of the evaluator’s recommendations.

Agreement
A written agreement will be made between university through ORIC and PI. All matters related to the usage
of fund, facilities and copyrights will be written in the agreement.

Principal Investigator (PI) Responsibilities:
 Over all supervision of project related activities.
 Guaranty to execute high quality work within specified period of time.
 PI will be continuously in-contact with Sectoral and academic collaborators by personal visit as
well as through email regarding research progress and handling any challenge (if any).
 PI has to motivate the Sectoral and academic collaborators by publishing research work along with
describing more about importance of end product for community.
 Administrative and financial responsibilities for managing personnel and handling research grant.
 Manage the contract, cooperative agreement with applicable laws and regulations with academic
and Sectoral collaborator.
 He has to ensure the process of timely hiring and supervising the project staff and institutional
policy governing the conduct of sponsored research.
