NOTE:
(i) That an applicant who intends to study Agricultural Sciences, Food Science and Technology
Engineering, Computer Studies, Medicine, Mines, Veterinary Medicine, Pharmacy, Biomedical
Sciences, Physiotherapy, Environmental Health, Radiography, Nursing, Midwifery or any Science
programmes should choose BSc. (NQS) or unless they possess a relevant diploma.

(ii) That an applicant who intends to enter University for the Parallel Programmes or School of Law
direct entry will be non-Government sponsored and will not change sponsorship throughout
the period of study.

(iii) That school leavers who intend to study Law, Economics, Demography, Public Administration,
Political Science, Sociology, Psychology, Development Studies, History, Philosophy or English
should choose B.A (NQS).

(iv) Applicants for BEd (MAS) and BEd-SSc must also attach a transcript of results from the College
where they did their Secondary Teachers Diploma

24. GENERAL ENTRANCE REQUIREMENTS FOR BACHELOR’S DEGREES:

(a) Passes at Credit level or better in at least five relevant subjects which should include
English Language in the Zambian School Certificate, General Certificate of Education
or Cambridge Overseas School Certificate.
(b) Advanced level (“A” level) passes in at least 3 relevant subjects

25. ALTERNATIVE QUALIFICATIONS:


● Qualifications equivalent to the Zambian School Certificate or General Certificate of Education or
Cambridge Overseas School Certificate may be accepted.

● Applicants with Diploma qualifications from recognized institutions passed with CREDIT or better may apply
directly for programmes in Engineering, Mines, Agricultural Sciences, Veterinary Medicine, Pharmacy,
Physiotherapy, Environmental Health and Biomedical Sciences. Transcripts of Results should be attached.
However, applicants in this category must have, in addition, relevant proven working experience of at least
ONE year. But those for Medicine related programmes (Pharmacy, Physiotherapy, Environmental Health and
Biomedical Sciences) must have relevant proven working experience of at least THREE years.

● Bachelor of Laws applicants must have the minimum requirements as follows:


A full certificate of Education or its equivalent AND “A” level passes in 3 subjects of which one is English OR
a Bachelors degree in any field of study OR a professional qualification equivalent to a degree.

● In addition to meeting the minimum university entrance requirements for degree programmes as specified
above, applicants for direct entry into the Bachelor of Engineering (BEng) programme are expected to fulfill
the following requirements.
(a) Attainment of at least a credit in ‘O’ level Mathematics and in an acceptable Science subject.
(b) Attainment of at least a credit or its equivalent in the diploma (technologist) in a relevant technical field.
For holders of City and Guilds qualifications, the diploma is taken to mean Level 4 (Full Technological
Certificate, Full Technological Diploma or Advanced Technician Diploma).
(c) At least one year of proven and relevant working experience after graduation with a diploma. A letter from
the employer showing proof of the relevant working experience must be attached

All programmes in the School of Education, except B.SC.Ed and B.Ed (MAS) require candidates to have a credit
or better in English and any other four subjects.

Applicants wishing to pursue B.Sc.Ed and B.Ed (MAS) should posses the following

27. MODE OF PAYMENT

● The application fee is K150.00 for those applying from within Zambia and US$60.00 or its
equivalent in a convertible currency for those applying from outside the country. The
fee is non refundable.
● The application form can also be downloaded from www.unza.zm
● Applicants who wish to send the application form by post should enclose a photocopy of
telegraphic money orders and not cash. The telegraphic order must bear the applicant’s full
names and address. Payments for full time and parallel should be addressed to THE ASSISTANT
REGISTRAR (ADMISSIONS) UNIVERSITY OF ZAMBIA, GREAT EAST ROAD CAMPUS, BOX
32379 LUSAKA
● Applicants can also deposit the application fee to either First National Bank Zambia (FNB), A/C,
No. 62607694371or Standard Chartered Bank, A/C No. 0100110273800. Name of the Account
is UNZA Registrar’s Department. ENSURE that, you attach the original deposit slip with your
full names of the applicant written on the deposit slip as proof of payment for the application form
to be processed.
● Cheque payments are not accepted.

University of Zambia. Do not buy two application forms.
NB
Please note that the mere possession of the minimum entry requirements is not in itself a guaranteed
admission to the University. Admissible candidates will have to compete and be within the cut-off point. The
cut-off point for any programme is determined, among other factors, by the performance of applicants in the
particular programme. It therefore changes from year to year depending on how candidates have performed.
