Atwood, T. (2015). The Complete Guide to Asperger’s Syndrome. London, England: Jessica
Kingsley Publishers. ISBN-13: 978-1-8431-0669-2
• Excellent resource for all things Asperger’s. This covers kids, adults, men &
women. It also has a lot of technical information and neuropsychology for
psychotherapists.
Atwood, T., Evans, C.R. & Lesko, A. (Eds.) (2014). Been There, Done That-Try This!: An
Aspie’s Guide to Life on Earth. London, England: Jessica Kingsley Publishers. ISBN-13:
978-1-84905-964-0.
• Interesting and helpful book. Filled with different people’s sot
Bargiela, S. (2019). Camouflage: The Hidden Lives of Autistic Women. London, England: JKP
Publishing. ISBN-13: 978-1-78592-566-9
• This is a wonderful little book. I read it in 1/2 hour, but it is the best, condensed
description of AS in women I've found to date. This is also a GREAT way to have
friends/family understand you. There is not a lot of technical language and like I
said, easy to read. I highly recommend!
Cook, B. & Garnett, M. (Eds.) (2018). Spectrum Women: Walking to the Beat of Autism.
London, England: Jessica Kingsley Publishers. ISBN-13: 978-1-7859-2434-7.
• Finally! A whole excellent book about women specifically.
Cook O’Toole, J. (2018). Autism in Heels: The Untold Story of Female Life on the Spectrum.
New York, NY: Skyhorse Publishing. ISBN-13: 978-1-5107-3284-1
• This book is very good, but I found the first half much better than the second (a
little too much self-inflation for my taste). In reading the first half, I found it hard
to put down. She did a good job combining autism facts with vivid personal
stories. She also presents issues unique to girls & women on the spectrum.
Craft, S. (2018). Everyday Asperger’s: A Journey on the Spectrum. London, England: Your
Stories Matter. ISBN-13: 978-1-9093-2057-4.
• Great book! This book is easy to read and gives accounts of life on the spectrum
from an early age until adulthood told through story narratives.
Holliday Willey, L. (2012). Safety Skills for Asperger Women: How to Save a Perfectly Good
Female Life. London, England: Jessica Kingsley Publishers. ISBN-13: 978-1-8490-5836-0.
• Good book about tangible things to be well; mostly things Aspies don’t do well
intuitively (body awareness, moods, relationships).
Madigan, J. (2016). Getting Gamers: The Psychology of Video Games and Their Impact on the
People Who Play Them. Lanham, MD: Rowman & Littlefield. ISBN-13: 978-1-4422-3999-9.
• Great book about role playing games and the gamming community.
Nerenberg, Jenara (2020). Divergent Mind. Thriving in a World That Wasn’t Designed for You.
New York, New York: Harper Collins Publishers.
• Good book with excellent information but I found it a little hard to read due to
lack of headings or sections.
Silberman, S. (2016). Neurotribes. The Legacy of Autism and the Future of Neurodiversity. New
York, New York: Penguin Random House.
