LESSON PLAN IN MATHEMATICS 1

I. OBJECTIVES
At the end of the lesson, the Grade 1 students must be able to:
● Understand counting and number symbols.
● Visualizes numbers from 0 to 100.
● Group objects into sets of 2, 5, or 10, and count them.
II. SUBJECT MATTER
Topic: Counting and Number Symbols
Skills: Identifying numbers symbols from 0 to 100.
Counting objects up to 100.
Values: Understanding, Accuracy, and Patience
Materials: Laptop, Visual aids, chalks/ marker, eraser, pictures
Reference: Math for Smart Learners 1 book, Most Essential Learning Competencies (MELCs),
Internet.
III. PROCEDURE
DAY 1
A. PRIMING ACTIVITY
a. Prayer
b. Greetings
c. Classroom Management
d. Checking of Attendance
e. Recall
● What is the number after 9?
● How do you write numbers from 0-10?
f. Motivation
 Show a video of a counting song and encourage students to sing along. Ask them
to count along with the video and raise their hand when they reach a specific
number.

B. LESSON PROPER
1. Activity
● Show counting cards with pictures of objects such as apples, pencils, and balls.
Have students count the objects on each card and write the corresponding
number symbol.

2. Analysis
● What did you do to find out the number corresponding for each card?
● Complete the word. C_ _NT
● Write the numbers from 0 to 20.
DAY 2
A. PRIMING ACTIVITY

e. Review
● Who can count the girls inside the classroom?
● How about the boys inside the classroom?
f. Motivation
 Show a video of a counting song and encourage students to sing along. Ask them
to count along with the video and raise their hand when they reach a specific
number.

B. LESSON PROPER
3. Abstraction
● What is COUNTING?
Counting is the foundation of mathematics. It helps you identify the number of
things. The symbols are called numerals. The symbols from 0 to 9 are called
Hindu-Arabic numerals.

● It is easier to count if the objects are grouped in a set.


● Objects can be grouped into sets of 2, 5, or 10.
● Examples:

2. (5)

3. (10)

4. Application

 The Boat is Sinking


The students will play the game and group themselves into the given set.
When they are already group a set of 5, the group needs tick up things in their
bag that can be group into sets of 2, 5, or 10. Show them to the class.
DAY 3

d. Checking of Attendance
e. Review
● Who can write the numbers from 1-50?
● How about 51-100?
f. Motivation
 Show a video of a counting song and encourage students to sing along. Ask them
to count along with the video and raise their hand when they reach a specific
number.

C. EVALUATION
Direction: Answer the word problem in Example 4 and 5 in your Math for Smart Learners book
from pages 7-8.

IV. ASSIGNMENT
Answer the Skill Booster letter A in your book on page 9.
