BEFORE YOU BEGIN
1. This procedure is a hot-swap procedure and can be performed with the appliance powered.
2. Read through this entire procedure. Contact Arbor Support (ATAC) if there are any questions
related to this procedure or your configuration.
3. When handling FRUs, be sure to use good ESD practices using wrist or heel straps to prevent
personal injury and damage to any internal server or edge board components.
Required tools/ components:
1) Replacement drive
2) Phillips-head screw driver (torque not exceed 8 in*lbf)

Step 1: Loosen the captive screw on the right side of the front bezel and remove the bezel.

Step 2: Locate the drive to be replaced. Note that it is possible that a failed drive does not have a
fault LED illuminated. The information below shows how to identify the drive in question.
In the case of Arbor SP7000 devices, there are six drives that make up a RAID 5 When looking at the physical drive bay, the drives are
array. You can view the status of the array using the CLI command installed and numbered right to left. The drive on the
sys dis show far right is drive 0, to the left of drive 0 is drive 1 and
so on. This is also screen printed on the sheet metal
below the drive slots.

Step 3: Once the drive to be replaced is located, press the green button on the drive carrier to
release the handle, rotate the handle down until it stops and then remove the faulty drive from the
appliance. In this example, drive 1 is being replaced.

Step 4: Remove the four screws securing the drive to the drive carrier and install the new drive in
the carrier using the same four screws.
Step 5: Insert the replacement drive into the drive slot until it stops. Then rotate the drive carrier
handle up until it ‘clicks’ in place when engaging the green retention button.
Step 6: Once the new drive is inserted, the rebuild should begin automatically within a few seconds.
The rebuild status can be viewed using the CLI command sys dis sho

IMPORTANT NOTE: The appliance is fully functional while rebuilding the drive. Any disk related
activity however may have a slight performance impact until the rebuild is complete.
