SIMPEX® WALL & COLUMN FORM
METHOD OF STATEMENT
1.1 SCOPE: Hereby we would like to underline the loading conditions and design criteria according to
regular project applications related standards, and introduce the methodology of forming walls with
supplied SIMPEX formwork systems.
1.2 SIMPEX WALL & COLUMN FORMWORK: TMS SIMPEX is a perfect choice for walls and columns at any
height and even with complicated floor plans. Residential, High rise buildings, Water Treatment or Power
Plants can easily be formed by SIMPEX.
Simpex is a plywood faced formwork system, supported by HT20 Timber Beam verticals and double NPU 100 steel
walers. System is complete with various accessories, push-pull type props, BDK concreting brackets with guard
railposts supporting double timber handrails and toe-guard timber. System can climb with various TMS climbing
brackets and shaft platforms.
1.3 APPLICABLE STANDARDS: For fresh concrete pressures and concreting rates we apply DIN 18218 and CIRIA
REPORT 108, details are appended as a separate sheet.
1.6 Safe pouring rates for Pmax = 60 kN/m2 for walls and Pmax = 80 kN/m2 for columns at t=15 C, without retarder
additive are;
According to DIN 18218 3,0 m/h for walls & 4,4 m/h for columns. (please see attached DIN 18218 concrete pressure
data)
According to CIRIA REPORT 108 (please see attached CIRIA REPORT 108 concrete pressure data).
P.S. CIRIA Report shows deviations on the safer side for higher walls and has a safety coefficient for columns, please
see appended data sheets for details.

SIMPEX® WALL & COLUMN FORM
1.7 METHOD OF FORMING WALLS:
Wall formwork to be “SIMPEX” system with Fin Ply plywood facing, HT20plus Timber Beam vertical supports
and 2xUPN 100 steel waling. System is complete with all necessary wedges, tie-rods, catwalk brackets, push-
pull-props, climbing scaffolds and removable anchors. Tie-rod sleeves, cones, dowels and plywood screws
have also been provided.
16
SIMPEX® WALL & COLUMN FORM
For easy and standard erection of repeating panel sizes it is recommended to establish the fixtures first. The
fixtures can be simply prepared by wooden beams and planks. The HT20plus timber beams will be placed
within the fixtures and YKxxx steel walers would be fixed by HT20 beam clamps within the fixture. This way
there would be no need for measuring the distances between the HT20 beams; hence the erection would be
quicker and standardized. Plywood facing would be done after fixing the HT20’s to the walers.
Under normal conditions the lateral plywood dimensions would be 5cm plus the waler size. These are
necessary for avoiding concrete leakages at joints. It is strictly recommended to apply this procedure for
wedging in order to have leak free inline panels.
Once having established the panels complete with plywood, timber beams, walers and crane hooks, they
can be safely lifted by crane and the push-pull type props should be applied for the first erected side. The
prop base plates should be securely fixed to the ground slab. The catwalk brackets can be used at any
preferred side, but they should have securely mounted planks kickers and hand rails.
Some kind of form-oil should be applied to the ply-facings before putting the rebar’s and prior to closing the
panels.
Rebar’s should have plastic spacers, and plastic tie rod sleeves and cones should be prepared according to
required the wall thickness. Once the panels have been closed the tie rods should be securely fixed, every
tie-rod nut should be checked for tightness. It should not be forgotten that any loose tie rod would cause an
increase of loading at its adjacent tie rods, and could force them to elongate under yielding, until the loose
tie rod gains any loading. This might cause irregularities in concrete walls, even if the tie rods would not fail
and rapture. The safe concrete pouring rates have been supplied with the submittal form.
The HT20 spacing’s are within 30-35cm’s and tie-rod spacing’s are about 100-125cm’s for standard panels.
Waling distances are variable according to the concreting pressures and should be referred to the related
elevation Dwg.’s. Climbing scaffolds should be used with provided removable anchors and head plates.
There are two sets of these for every climbing scaffold bracket. Climbing scaffolds should be grouped by
provided tube and couplers, also enhancing their resistance to twist and turn under load. Walking platform
timber planks should be securely fixed and handrail/kicker timbers should be placed for every working area.
Wall formwork should be release according to the spec’s, and should be stored safely until the next usage.
All tie-rods must be removed and stored separately prior to crane handling, there should not be any worker
on lifted panels, platforms etc.
The special disposition of SIMPEX wall and column formwork is given in the drawings.

assumptions specified on the chart remain the same, the fresh concrete pressure is to be
increased to Pb=25hr.

SAFETY MEASURES
High productivity depends on safety; an accident, no matter how minor, causes job delays and
inefficiency, running up costs. That's why TMS, in the design of its systems and products,
makes, as one of its primary concerns, the safety of those people who will be working with and
near the equipment. Every product is designed with safety in mind, and
is subjected to testing to be certain that it will perform as intended with appropriate safety
allowances. Factory-built systems, such as these, provide predictable strengths, thereby
minimizing the uncertainty that often surrounds "handmade", "job-shop" and "job-built"
equipment.
As a result, when used properly, TMS products are your best assurance of a safe operation. To
insure proper use, we have published product application guides. We recommend that
all construction personnel who will be involved, directly or indirectly, with the use of this
product, be familiar with the contents of this guide.
In addition to the above meetings, all persons involved with the construction should be
familiar, and in compliance, with the applicable government regulations, codes and ordinances,
as well as the industry safety standards developed and published.
Since field conditions vary, and are beyond the knowledge and control of TMS, safe and proper
use of this product is, and must be, the responsibility of the user.
