Abstract
This research explores terrain of "The Impact of Shift Work on Mother-Adolescent
Relationship: Mutual Perspective in an Educational Context," with a specific focus on
mothers who are teachers. Through a mixed-methods approach encompassing quantitative
surveys and qualitative interviews were used and study encompasses a total of 108
participants, strategically divided into four groups: working mothers who are teachers,
housewives, and their adolescent children. These surveys are administered through face-to-
face interviews to ensure clarity and foster participant engagement. The analysis of
quantitative data collected from the surveys is executed with the aid of statistical software,
notably SPSS. Descriptive statistics are employed to summarize and elucidate the survey
responses, encompassing means, standard deviations, medians, and ranges. Moreover,
reliability indices such as Cronbach's alpha are computed to gauge the internal consistency of
the survey items. The study was meticulously conducted in adherence to the ethical
guidelines laid out by the institution's ethics committee. Results indicate that working
mothers, including teachers, exhibit remarkable dedication to maintaining open lines of
communication with their adolescent children about education, as indicated by a mean score
of 3.50 on the Parent-Child Communication scale. However, the study also highlights that
shift work impacts mothers' physical and mental well-being, with a mean score of 3.44 on the
Impact on Health and Well-being scale. Furthermore, academic performance and motivation
among adolescents are moderately influenced by their mothers' work schedules, reflected in a
mean score of 2.7 on the Impact on Academic Performance scale. Longitudinal research
could be pursued to assess the enduring impact of shift work on mother-adolescent
relationships, offering insights into how these dynamics evolve over time. Furthermore, the
development and evaluation of interventions and support programs, tailored to the specific
needs of working mothers, could be a promising avenue to enhance the quality of parent-
child interactions in the educational context.
