Year 2016.e.c
.Description:
This course provides a comprehensive introduction to computer networking, covering the fundamental
concepts, protocols, and technologies that enable communication between devices and the transfer of
data across networks. Students will learn about network architecture, network protocols, network
security, and network troubleshooting.
Through hands-on labs and practical exercises, students will gain a solid understanding of networking
principles and develop skills to design, implement, and manage computer networks.
Outcomes:
1. Understand the basic concepts and components of computer networks.
6. Design and implement local area networks (LANs) and wide area networks (WANs).
7. Apply network management techniques for monitoring and optimizing network performance.
1.2. Network Models and Protocols: OSI model, TCP/IP model, and key protocols such as IP, TCP, and
UDP.
1.3. Network Devices and Components: Routers, switches, hubs, and network cables.
1.4. Network Addressing and Subnetting: IP addressing, subnet masks, and subnetting techniques.
1.5. Network Configuration and Troubleshooting: Configuring routers and switches, troubleshooting
network connectivity issues.
2. Network Security: Firewalls, VPNs, encryption, and network security best practices.
2.1. Wireless Networking: Wi-Fi standards, wireless security, and wireless network configuration.
Mode of Delivery:
The course will be delivered through a combination of lectures, hands-on labs, and group discation
Students will have access to network simulation tools and hardware equipment to practice network
configuration and troubleshooting.
