chemicals into smaller pieces quantities of powder
or to grind substances into
fine powder

PHARMACEUTIVCAL • used at the final stage of

LABORATORY • used to check the
SIEVE THERMOMETER temperature of chemicals, or
primary manufacture,
screening the pharmaceutical sometimes to check the
powders to the required size temperature rise
before they are sent away for
the second manufacturing
stage
FILTER PAPER • used in clarifying liquids from ALCOHOL LAMP • used for heating,
precipitates or solid matter sterilization, and
including tablet or capsule combustion in a laboratory
excipients, and coatings and to produce an open
flame

PARAFILM • used in covering or sealing PIPETTE • used to transport a

vessels such as flasks, measured volume of liquid,
cuvettes, test tubes, beakers, often as a media dispenser
petri dished and others
• more accurate than the
graduated cylinder
PILL TILE • used to make pills and mix
ointments
STIRRING ROD • is used to stir solutions,
scrape things off walls of
flasks, to assist in pouring
liquids, and to transfer a
single drop of a solution
FUNNEL • used for filtering, filling, GRADUATED CYLINDER • is used for measuring
decanting or transferring volumes of liquids
liquids or powders

DROPPER • used to transfer tiny amounts

of liquid
TEST TUBE • used to hold, mix, or heat
small quantities of solid or
liquid chemicals, especially
for qualitative experiments
and assays
GLASSINE PAPER • ideal for packaging in the
medical industry to contain or
TEST TUBE RACK • is used to hold upright
protect medical accessories, multiple test tubes
patient specimens, and
pharmaceutical drugs

WATER BATH • used to heat samples in the

TEST TUBE HOLDER • used to hold test tube in
laboratory or heating place when the tube is hot or
flammable chemicals that should not be touched
might combust if exposed to
open flame

and narrow mouth
laboratory glassware such as
graduated cylinders,
burettes, and erlenmeyer
flasks

of hazardous substances
into the general laboratory
space

ERLENMEYER FLASK • used for pouring solutions

and may be closed with a
stopper in order to store
samples
• used to hold liquids or solids
that release gas

BEAKER • used for mixing, stirring and

heating chemicals and for
holding liquids or solid
samples

TOP LOADING BALANCE • is used to determine the

mass of a reagent or object

WATCH GLASS • used to hold and weigh

solids

EVAPORATING DISH • used to hold samples of

solid and small volumes of
liquids
• to heat a substance or
solution, for melting or
evaporation
