Vico Sotto
Vico Sotto
Any person who has assumed control over a tribe, city, state, region, or even country is a
politician or a political leader. Numerous political figures, both good and evil, who devoted their lives to
advancing their nations and the citizens of those nations have been produced throughout history.
Governments are led by political figures not only in times of peace but also in times of crisis. They are in
charge of developing and implementing plans and policies intended to serve the needs of the nation
they rule. These leaders are chosen by a variety of procedures, such as elections in a democratic country,
birthright, or lineage in the case of a monarchy, or even dictatorships in which one person unilaterally
declares himself to be the head of state.
Critical thinking allows executives at all levels to comprehend how their decisions affect the
company. It also ensures accountability for results and alignment with corporate goals are met. We all
now recognize what poor leadership looks like in the wake of the current catastrophe. The inadequate
reaction to this pandemic by some political leaders clearly illustrates what happens when choices are
made based on inaccurate, partially misleading, or insufficient information. Leaders managing the
turbulence of the "new normal" need to be able to think critically. Because of his prompt response to the
COVID-19 outbreak and the ensuing community quarantine, I believe Pasig City Mayor Vico Sotto to be a
critical thinker. He demonstrated that he practiced the 16 traits of a critical thinker and went above and
beyond what we expected. I'll use a few of his projects to establish and support my claim that the mayor
of Pasig is a genuine critical thinker. They are open to changing the status quo and being aware of typical
mental mistakes. Despite the transportation prohibition, difficulties during lockdowns, and this new
normal, the mayor of Pasig set up eco-friendly buses to help essential personnel with their
transportation needs so they could perform their responsibilities. Following the Department of the
Interior and Local Government's denial of his request to use tricycles, the city decided to step up its
game and work with Global Electric Transport to provide two zero-emission vehicles. In addition, he has
been raising money to purchase new and used bikes for front-line workers to utilize as a mode of
mobility. Even more, Mayor Sotto and Grab partnered to offer healthcare staff free use of Grab scooters.
There are many different ways to practice critical thinking at work. We observe teams using vital
reviews to solve issues efficiently. Even in the workplace, critical thinking is employed to assist couples in
identifying problems before they come up with potential solutions. Since leaders must have the
necessary thinking abilities, be able to comprehend logical relationships between ideas, recognize the
significance and connection of an argument, recognize errors in reasoning, and then make the right
decisions, critical thinking is applied to leadership approaches. Because necessary thinking abilities are
transferable as long as the person can take charge and use discipline to study, anyone could be a leader.
All of this data implies that a good leader who needs to be more critical may make better decisions,
misjudge a situation, and eventually fail the leadership mechanisms in place. Political leaders,
particularly heads of state, significantly impact society. Their characteristics and variety have several
effects on their leadership, ideology, decision-making, or performance.
