NFPA Open-Grid Ceilings

This document provides requirements for sprinkler locations in various situations: 1) Sprinklers in exhaust ducts subject to freezing must be protected from freezing. Minimum clearances are required between sprinkler deflectors and open-grid ceilings depending on the sprinkler spacing and occupancy hazard classification. 2) Open-grid ceilings can only be installed below sprinklers if the grid meets certain criteria or the ceiling is listed for such use. 3) Drop-out ceilings and materials can be installed below sprinklers if listed for that purpose, with some exceptions for quick-response or extended coverage sprinklers. Sprinklers cannot be installed directly below drop-out ceilings.
