The owner of an ice-cream parlour gathered information on the average sales


per day of litres of ice-cream during a festival. The table below shows a summary
for 12 days.

5.1 ABC is a triangle that has an area of 5 square units. Δ A’ B’ C’ is an


enlargement of Δ ABC through the origin by a scale factor of 2.

5.1.1 Determine the area of Δ A’ B’ C’ .

5.1.2 Write down the general rule for the transformation from
Δ ABC to Δ A’ B’ C’ . (2)

5.1.3 The vertices of Δ ABC are A(-1 ; 4), B(-1 ; 2) and C(4 ; 4).

5.2 A quadrilateral EFGH is transformed to its image E’’’ F’’’ G’’’ H’’’ in the
following way :

• First, reflect EFGH about the line y = x.

• Then, rotate this image through 90 o in a clockwise direction about


the origin.

• The second image has a translation of 2 units to the left and 3 units down
to obtain E’’’ F’’’ G’’’ H’’’ .

Write down the general rule of the transformation of EFGH to E’’’ F’’’ G’’’ H’’’ .

A carton container that is used to dispatch shrubs, consists of a cube with a pyramid on
a square base that fits exactly on the cube. The sides of the cube are 350 mm and the
slant height of the right pyramid is also 350 mm.
