TITLE:

MICROPROCESSOR

AIM:

To study about the microprocessors in detail.

INTRODUCTION:

A microprocessor is a computer processor where the data

processing logic and control is included on a single integrated
circuit (IC), or a small number of ICs. The microprocessor
contains the arithmetic, logic, and control circuitry required to
perform the functions of a computer's central processing
unit (CPU). The IC is capable of interpreting and executing
program instructions and performing arithmetic operations.
COURSE OUTCOME:

1)We studied how to use microprocessors .

2)We got to know about different types of

microprocessors.

PRACTICAL OUTCOMES:

1)Understand the components and working principle

of different microprocessors.
BRIEF INTRODUCTION:

Microprocessors are the tiny little chips that power up

almost everything around us. From our smartphones to
our laptops, and from our cars to our home appliances,
microprocessors are an integral part of our lives. They
are the brains behind the electronic devices that we use
every day. A microprocessor is essentially a computer
on a chip that is designed to perform a specific function
or set of functions. It consists of millions of transistors
that work together to execute instructions.

The history of microprocessors dates back to the 1960s

when the first microprocessor chip was invented by
Intel. Since then, microprocessors have come a long
way in terms of speed, power, and functionality. Today,
microprocessors are used in a wide range of
applications, including embedded systems, consumer
electronics, medical devices, and industrial automation.

One of the key benefits of microprocessors is their

compact size. They are small enough to fit into even the
tiniest devices, yet powerful enough to handle complex
tasks. Microprocessors are also energy-efficient and
consume very little power, making them ideal for
battery-powered devices.
Another advantage of microprocessors is their
versatility. They can be programmed to perform a wide
range of functions, making them suitable for a variety of
applications. This flexibility also makes them ideal for
rapid prototyping and product development.

In conclusion, microprocessors are the backbone of

modern electronics. They are essential for the
functioning of electronic devices and have
revolutionized the way we live and work. With their
small size, energy efficiency, and versatility,
microprocessors are likely to continue to play a pivotal
role in the development of new technologies and
devices in the future.
SIGNIFICANCE:

A microprocessor is a general - purpose entity. Several specialized

processing devices have followed:

 A digital signal processor (DSP) is specialized for signal processing.

 Graphics processing units (GPUs) are processors designed primarily
for realtime rendering of images.
 Other specialized units exist for video processing and machine
vision.
 Microcontrollers in embedded systems and peripheral devices.
 Systems on chip (SoCs) often integrate one or more microprocessor
and microcontroller cores with other components such as radio
modems, and are used in smartphones and tablet computers.

APPLICATIONS:

o The microprocessor is used in personal computers (PCs).

o The microprocessor is used in LASER printers for good speed
and making automatic photo copies.
o The microprocessors are used in modems, telephone, digital
telephone sets, and also in air reservation systems and
railway reservation systems.
o The microprocessor is used in medical instrument to
measure temperature and blood pressure.
REFRENCES:

 Computer peripheral and hardware
