uniFLOW Embedded Applet for Konica Minolta V1.2.2

1 Introduction
The uniFLOW Embedded Applet for Konica Minolta is an applet designed for use on
Konica Minolta multifunction print devices.
uniFLOW Embedded Applet for Konica Minolta affords greater oversight of device
usage for business customers whom are environmentally aware and cost conscious,
allowing control and reduced wastage of paper, toner and energy, in the day to day
operation of their Konica Minolta devices.
No longer will piles of unwanted copies or print-jobs end up in the recycling bin when
users either forget the requested print, or decide it is no longer required once it has
been added to the print queue.
With uniFLOW Embedded Applet for Konica Minolta, users log into the native
application running on the Konica Minolta device and are presented with a list of their
print jobs stored on a central server. From here they are able to release jobs en masse
or individually, print and keep them for later, or simply delete them from the queue.
Built in tracking features can be utilized to monitor the jobs released, which can be
tracked by paper size, color and number of printed duplex or single sides. If required
jobs can be assigned prices, calculated dependent on pages, sides, size and color,
which can be presented to the user as they are choosing print jobs to be released from
the queue.
Sophisticated usage tracking features, prevention of unauthorized copy/prints and a
smooth intuitive user interface make uniFLOW Embedded Applet for Konica Minolta
the definitive choice for managing Konica Minolta multifunction devices.

3 Konica Minolta System Structure

The configuration needs the Konica Minolta Client Windows service to be installed and
running in order to enable communication between uniFLOW and the Konica Minolta
applet on the device.
The Konica Minolta Client service can best be described as a connector or middleware
software installed additionally on a computer, preferably either on the uniFLOW server
or on an RPS. It is a stand-alone application which can run without needing a running
web server such as the Windows IIS. The client software is also used to install and
register the application via the ´Application Registration Tool´. The Konica Minolta
applet will not work unless it has been registered on the MFP by means of Registration
Tool.
One Konica-Minolta client can communicate with one or several devices. Depending
on print infrastructure it is also possible to install additional Konica Minolta clients on
several servers or RPSs, thereby minimizing data transfer and optimizing
performance. This can be configured within the EAI settings in uniFLOW.

should not be changed.
For details on how to set this, please consult the Konica Minolta installation manual.

5 Configuration of the Konica Minolta Device

Make sure you are logged on as administrator onto the device’s web interface (Page
Scope Web Connection) under http://<ip-address-of-device>/.
• The Page Scope Web Connection interface might differ dependent on the specific
MFP.

1. On the Security tab, navigate to PKI Settings > Device Certificate Setting. If an SSL
certificate is shown at this point, skip the following steps:
o Click New Registration, select Create and install a self-signed Certificate and
click OK.

6
uniFLOW Embedded Applet for Konica Minolta V1.2.2

o Fill in the fields with some values about your organization. The values have no
functional significance.
o For the Validity Period the maximum number of days offered is
recommended (usually 3650 = 10 years).
o Encryption Key Type can be left to the default values.
o Click OK. The certificate will be generated and your web browser will re-logon
to the web server under “https” mode. You may have to confirm an “invalid
certificate” in your browser.
• In case the website did not automatically re-logon with HTTPS
activated, activate SSL manually under Device Certificate Setting >
SSL Setting. Activate SSL for Administrator-Mode and User-Mode.
Furthermore, please activate every type of SSL versions and
encryption strengths.
• On some devices, an additional setting is visible with the title:
Action for Invalid Certificate.
In such case, on the Security tab under SSL/TLS Setting, click Action
for Invalid Certificate. If Continue is not already selected in the
drop-down list, select it and click OK.

1. On the Network tab, click OpenAPI Setting.

2. Under Use SSL/TLS select SSL Only from the drop-down list.
3. Set the Port No. (SSL) to 50003.

When I press the on-screen Login button in the Konica Minolta embedded
application, the device panel shows “Connecting to server” for an extended
time. How can I fix this?
Please check the following:
Is the device’s network connection functional?
1. Is there a red cross error displayed in the uniFLOW Server Configuration interface
at Connections > Agents / Terminals > EAI > List view [device]> Licensed?
2. Also check the Connections > Agents/Terminals > EAI > Network Configuration
part for valid IP addresses and ports.
3. Try switching off the device for 5 seconds and switching it on again. This may
resolve some network connectivity issues.
4. Can the uniFLOW connect to the KM Client Service on port 2556?
5. You may need to check routers and firewalls, including the Windows software
firewall. A good way to test this is to telnet from uniFLOW server to the KM Native
UI Client Service IP address on port 2556 (telnet 1.2.3.4 2556).
6. Check the addendum within this manual for Konica Minolta for requirements on
certificate verification settings in the device’s web interface and verify that all
these requirements have been met. In particular:
o Check that Certificate Verification has been disabled in the Network →
OpenAPI section (“Do not request”/”Do not confirm”).
o Check that Certificate Verification in the Security section (on newer devices
only) has been set to OFF.
7. Does the device have the latest firmware installed? Connection problems may
occur with older firmware versions on some devices. Please check with your
Konica Minolta supplier for the version number of the latest firmware available
and compare with what you find in the device’s web interface.
8. What is the IP address of the KM Client service? When starting the KM Client
service, e.g. after a reboot or, in Windows, through Control Panel > Administrative
Tools > Services > KM Client Service, you will find a line like this in the log file
[app-path]/OpenAPISDK1.log.
Example:
2013/03/07_14:20:08:4170 T SDKBaseLibrary
xyz.xyz.xyz.xyzDevReqManager
CertificateFile set […….]
The IP address in the line will be the one that the Konica Minolta device uses to
contact the uniFLOW server. Please compare it with IP address which is stored in
[app-path] it should include same IP address value. To synchronize the values
please also, refer to Chapter 7 – Installation of Applet.
Please note: If you want it to use another address, e.g. if you have multiple
interfaces, please change and then update the option “Server IP address” in the
KM Application Registration Tool, which you will find within Chapter 7 –
Installation of Applet.
9. Check whether other MFP embedded or server applications might be interfering
with uniFLOW server.
10. If none of the above helps, we recommend using WireShark to capture a network
trace of packets transmitted by the MFP during the logon process. Make sure to

capture from a PC on the same LAN segment as the MFP with no routers/switches
in between. Send the trace as a PCAP file to support to help with diagnosing.

When I want to use scan to myself, predefined entry is not visible in the
address book on the device. How can I fix this?
In case you do not see registered uniFLOW E-mail address within the device address
book please enable the Scan to E-email setting in Network > E-mail Settings > E-mail
TX (SMTP).

If problems persist then contact your distributor.

take several seconds.
