Course Description
This course covers the necessary tools and processes to manage the life cycle of a project in an industrial environment. Students will utilize
the Guide to the Project Management Body of Knowledge (PMBOK®), applying standard terminology and methods in a number of small
sample projects including creation of project charter, risk management, procurement, and project scheduling and project reporting.

Course Outcomes
Successful completion of this course will enable the student to:
1. Use the foundational elements of project management, internal and external environments and the value delivery system in order to
effectively manage projects in a manufacturing environment.
2. Explain various project development life cycles and methodologies by selecting appropriate communication tools and methods for the
purpose of stakeholder communication.
3. Choose appropriate project development life cycles for various projects in accordance with industry requirements.
4. Select the appropriate project management principle in project management performance domains using related models, methods and
artifacts to create quality control and quality assurance plans.
5. Create a plan for project stakeholders that include management, scope, resources, schedule, budget, quality, communication, risk
management and the principles and practice of team leadership.
6. Evaluate project performance using appropriate metrics to suggest corrective actions according to criteria that impact projects.
7. Create project reports including project closure reports and lessons learned according to industry standards.

This course may be using web-based services with data centres outside of Canada. Students may be expected to complete assessments
where information is transmitted outside of Canada. Students who do not wish to submit their information to other countries have the right to

require the student to attend the campus testing centre at a designated time.
