SMOKING
There are a variety of different perspectives on the issue of whether smoking should be
banned in public places or not. While some people no doubt disagree, it is my personal
belief that public smoking should not indeed be allowed for many people. There are
several principal reasons for this.
First of all, it is absolutely pivotal to remember that smoking has negative impacts on
people’s health. It is a proven fact that a cigarette contains a lot of toxic and chemical
substances, and it increases the risk of various health problems for smokers especially
many diseases related to the respiratory system such as lung cancer, lung disease, heart
disease, and even leads to death. Further and even more importantly, though smoking
results in negative effects on passive smokers This means that many people feel
uncomfortable and annoyed when being near smokers. Specifically, children and
pregnant women who are nearby smokers can be seriously affected.
The second reason is that smoking is extremely harmful to the environment. tobacco
smoke is so toxic and when smokers exhale smoke it causes pollution leads to air
pollution. In addition, smokers throw their cigarettes on the ground everywhere they go,
resulting in soil pollution. Moreover, cigarette butts which are released into water cause
water pollution and harm marine life.
The final reason is that smokers set a bad example for children to follow. When they see
an adult smoke, they tend to imitate this wrong action quickly because they cannot know
whether it is right or not. Smoking occurs mostly in young people today and some
teenagers learn to smoke in order to express their coolness. As a result, they lead an
unhealthy lifestyle.
By way of conclusion, I once again restate my position that public smoking has had a
negative impact on personal growth and modern life. It is advisable that smokers quit
smoking to have good health and lead a decent life.
