Lesson Plan 1 Class 8

This lesson plan is for an 8th grade class on the universe. It aims to teach students about the solar system by having them identify the planets, learn about the sun and moon, and explain eclipses. The teacher will start by asking what students already know about the universe and solar system. They will then discuss key facts like the number of planets, Jupiter's moons, and the definitions of solar and lunar eclipses. The lesson involves explaining that the sun is at the center of the solar system and heating the planets, which vary in distance, size, and features from the sun. Students will complete homework on the chapter and prepare for a test assessment.

 Our Sun is a giant, hot star at the center of the solar system, providing light and heat to all the
planets.
 There are nine planets in our solar system, with Earth being one of them.
 Planets like Mercury and Venus are closer to the Sun and very hot, while planets like Neptune
