Date: August 30, 2023 Learning Plan No.: 11 Week: 4
Time: EOH – 8:20-9:10AM; AG – 9:10-10:00AM; RTA – 10:20-11:10AM; ATG – 11:10-12:00 NOON;
PTA – 1:00-1:50PM; CDL – 1:50-2:40PM
I. PRELIMINARIES
Review:
● What happens to the cell when it undergoes mitosis?
● Why is Important?
Focus:
● Cell Cycle
Motivation/Activating Prior Knowledge: Picture and Tell!
• In class, a set of pictures will be shown, and students will be encouraged to provide their insights about the
images. Additionally, they will engage in reflection by answering relevant questions.
- What can you observe on the images?
- How can you describe the two individuals in terms of physical size?
- As we get older, we also grow to a certain size. What do you think is happening with our cells?
II. LESSON DEVELOPMENT
Presentation of Concepts:
● Students will know the different phases of cell cycle and their control points.
● Students will be able to explain the phases of the cell cycle and their control points STEM_BIO11/12-Id-f-6
Activities:
● Discussion Method
- Students can participate actively during the class discussion and can ask questions pertaining to the lesson.
● Photo Analysis
- Students are presented with relevant photos to further deepen their understanding on the topic.
• Academic Stations
- The class will be divided into groups. Each group will be assigned to a specific station, representing a specific
phase of the cell cycle. At each station, they will analyze visual aids and interactive models; discuss and
explain the phases of the cell cycle,
Broadening of Concept:
● How do control points regulate cell cycle?
● Why is understanding cell cycle phases crucial for studying cell growth and division?
Integration:
A. Ignacian Core/Related Values: Service – Charity
How will you help individuals who are facing serious illnesses?
B. Social Orientation: Cancer
How important is it for our cells to be regulated as it divides?
C. Lesson Across Discipline: TLE
When cooking, why is it necessary to follow the procedures or recipe?
D. Faith/Biblical Reflection: Ecclesiastes 3:1
There is a time for everything, and a season for every activity under the heavens.
III. Evaluation / Assessment
