Layout of ROR and PROR Hydropower Projetcs

This document discusses the layout of different types of run-of-river (ROR) and peaking run-of-river (PROR) hydropower projects. It describes ROR projects that use canals, pipes, or tunnels to divert river water to power generation facilities. It also explains that PROR projects combine characteristics of ROR with the ability to provide peaking power during high demand periods by regulating daily river flows. The layout options for PROR projects are the same as ROR and include the use of canals, pipes, or tunnels.

Hello Everyone

Welcome to HYDROPOWER

Today we will be discussing about the Layout of ROR and PROR Hydropower

So the

first one is. ROR Project with Canal

Second one is . ROR Project with Pipe

Third one is ROR Project With Tunnel

and finally we will talk about the Layout of P-ROR Projects

So lets start with the first one, ROR Project with Canal

The canal option involves the construction of a canal or diversion channel

immediate after intake structure that diverts a portion of the river's flow to the
hydropower facility. This canal can be used to direct water to the turbines,
allowing for a controlled and predictable structure and flow of water through the
power plant.

The Typical Layout of the Scheme is as:

the second one is ROR Project with Pipe

A Run-of-River (ROR) hydropower project with a pipe option is a type of

hydroelectric power generation system that combines the benefits of ROR technology
with the use of pipes or penstocks to transport water from the river to the
powerhouse. This design allows for more controlled water flow and potential energy
optimization while maintaining the core principles of ROR hydropower.

The Typical Layout of the Scheme is as:

and the third one is ROR Project With Tunnel

A Run-of-River (ROR) hydropower project with a tunnel is a type of hydroelectric

power generation system that combines the principles of ROR technology with the
construction of a tunnel to divert water from a river or stream to the powerhouse.
This design allows for greater control over the water flow and potential energy
optimization while minimizing the environmental impact on the river's natural flow.

The Typical Layout of the Scheme is as:

and lastly we will be studying about the

Layout of P-ROR Projects

Peaking run-of-river hydropower projects are a specific type of Power Plant that
combines the characteristics of ROR Plant with the ability to provide peaking
power. Peaking power plants are designed to generate electricity during periods of
high electricity demand, typically during peak hours, through hourly regulations of
the daily flow available in the river to meet the short-term surges in energy
consumption.

The layout of peaking run-of-river projects are same as that of run-of river
schemes:

The three possible options of the PROR Projects are:

Peaking run-of river projects with canal

Peaking run-of River projects with pipe

Peaking run-of river projects with tunnel

So today we will end up the season for this much
