SOP For 500kVA DG / Engine Fuel Pump Actuators & ECU Operating Conditions Checking / Failure Analysis

This document provides instructions for checking operating conditions of fuel pump actuators and the electronic control unit (ECU) for a 500kVA diesel generator, including: 1. Inserting a wire link to disable the ECU for checking and removing it before starting. 2. Checking battery voltage, actuator voltages, ECU terminal voltages, fuel pump wiring, connectors and positions. 3. Connecting a laptop to check actuator positions and identify failures. 4. Troubleshooting alarms and resetting the ECU. 5. Parameters that must be set when fuel pumps or ECU are changed, such as PID settings and offsets.

operating conditions checking / failure analysis

Fuel pump actuators and ECU operating conditions

➢ Insert wire link (See red wire link) in to wiring ferrule no-28D & 28E, when DG / Engine not in operation

➢ Remove wire link from wiring

ferrule no-28D & 28E before
starting DG / Engine after
checking of all below given
parameters.
Check battery voltage conditions on ECU terminals

➢ Check battery supply on battery terminals U & V

(wiring ferrule no- 21 & 28I should be >24V)
( Voltage specifications 19V to 26V)
➢ Battery Voltage should be as per given
specifications
Check ECU operating conditions

➢ Check actuator 1 voltage on terminals S & T (wiring ferrule no- 8A & ➢ Check actuator 2 voltage on terminals W & X (wiring ferrule no-
8B should be 12.91V (Voltage specifications 10V to 26V) 9A & 9B should be 10.54V (Voltage specifications 10V to 26V)
➢ If <10V check current limit setting, if current limit setting is ok, then ➢ If <10V check current limit setting, if current limit setting is ok,
remove the wires & check on ECU terminals S & T. If still not getting then remove the wires & check on ECU terminals W & X. If still
