APPLICATION AND ASSESSMENT

1. How would you describe yourself?

I describe myself as kind, lovable and disciplined person.

2. What are the influences of the family in your development as an

individual?

Build you to be a better individual, helps set right priorities in life, shows you
that commitment, teamwork, respect and forgiveness are important.

3. Think of a time when you felt you were your “true self”. What made you
think you were truly who you are during this time of your life?

By acting in a way that agrees with one’s beliefs or values. It never really
bothered me because I never gave it that much priority in my life even though I
used to overthink little about my behaviour.

4. Following the question above, can you provide a time when you felt you
were not living your “true self”? Why did you have to live a life like that?
Why did you do about it?

We shouldn’t waste our time not being true to ourselves. I always preferred to be
loved and hated by being me not living someone else or pretending to be a
person who’s not even me. Maybe there’s really a situation wherein you may
need to pretend but or better find a solution that can make you feel better.
5. What social pressures help shape yourself? Would you have wanted it
otherwise?

Positive peer pressure, by surrounding yourself with good, honest friends, they
will help you become better.

6. What aspects of your self do you think may be changed or would you like
to change?

I would love to overcome this by freeing myself from all the obstacles such as my
insecurities, the hindrance of me communicating to other people.

The Filipino concept of self reflects a collectivistic perspective, as Filipinos tend

to emphasize values and traits that promote interpersonal cooperation,
reciprocity and social acceptance, rather than individualistic values such as
autonomy and uniqueness. (Church, 1987; Lynch, 1973).
CHAPTER 2

LESSON 1: The Physical Self

ASSESSMENT

I. Enumeration

1. According to Williams, this is the sum total of all that man call his.
2. Which includes his body, family and reputation, also his clothes and his
house.

A. Draw yourself inside the box.

1. Given the chance, which part of the body do you want to change? Why?

Face, because there are too many judgemental people in our society that judge
our physical appearance.

2. Which part do you want to retain? Why?

All of my body parts, every single part of my body is needed for everyday works,
and schools, etc.

B.

1. What part of your body are you most proud of? Why?

It’s my whole existence, because I am who I want to be no matter what they say
I am confidently beautiful inside and out.

2. Which part of your body are you not happy about? Why?

None, I am contented on my physical appearance and even if it’s not perfect, I’m
just accepting with any further hesitations.

3. Describe the body you want to have.

I want a perfect body, If what God gives me I will accept it wholeheartedly.

4. Do you really need another body to be happy? Why? Or Why not?

For me, you do not need someone to be happy. Yes, having a company is
wonderful, and they add so much to our lives, but they’re not here in existence
to provide the happiness we cannot find within ourselves. Relationships don’t fill
a void or affix an emotional band-aid on your pain. Relationships will not be the
missing piece to attain your fulfilment in life. In short, if beauty is in the eye of
the beholder, then I can say happiness lies to the person who seeks it. This
reminds me of the quote, “you don’t need anyone to be happy. Your happiness
lies inside you. The only thing you have to do is to find it”.
