2. Function Description
The fuel consumption is influenceable through the environment where the engine is used.
The air temperature but also the air pressure plus the heat of the engine and it’s exhaust can
reduce or increase the fuel consumption.
These parameters must be linked to the ECU for an efficient engine management.

The ECU030 is an ignition and injection system for 2-stroke and Wankel engines:
 Universally deployble electronic injection system
 Automatic mixture adaption to air pressure and external temperature
 Integrated rotational speed regulator
 Four ignition channels
 Two injection nozzeles separatley adjustable
 Electronically controlled pump pressure
 Automatic choke function
 Monitoring of the engine data via PC, telemetry via CAN bus
 For petrol mixtures or heavy fuel
 Intuitive interface for the setting and servicing of the engine via UniCal
 Updateable per CAN bus
 Powerful 32-bit control unit

The ECU 030 consists mainly of the following functional modules:

1. Digital inputs
2. Analogue inputs
3. A. switching outputs (low side)
B. switching outputs (high side)

CAN bus serves for the communication. Tasks which are typically dealt with via
the CAN:
1. Control functions such as control of the servo motors, fuel injection
2. Evaluation of the sensor signals (analogue, digital)
3. General diagnostic functions
4. Manual diagnostic functions

8. Mechanical Information
General Description
The protection class is only achieved with a plugged in mating connector.

Dust protection class in accordance with DIN 40 050 Part 9 IP &KX, (Optional)

Water protection class in accordance with DIN 40 050 Partl 9 IP X7. (Optional)

It must be ensured that no water can penetrate into the control unit via the wiring harness.

The wiring harness connector and the contacts are not included in the scope of supply and must be
ordered separately.

The Sky Power GmbH guarantee only covers the reliable functioning of the connector system, if a
suitable connector from FCI is used on the wiring harness side.

Installation Conditions

Permissible installation positions: Engine compartment and the vehicle interior.

The ECU must not vibrate in the installed position.

The assembly of the electronics in the housing is the responsibility of Sky Power GmbH. Thr ECU
should be installed that the pressure equalization element and the connector of the wiring harness
are not exposed to direct water spray.

The ECU must be installed that the fitting of the mating connector is possible without ob-structions.

The ECU must be installed that the connector is in the overhead position and therefore the ingress of
water into the plug connection is prevented.

When selecting the installation position, it must be ensured that the run off of water in the area oft
he pressure equalization element is guaranteed. An inclination angle of at least 5° must be
maintained.

The above mentioned angle of the pressure equalization element relates to the X / Y level of the
vehicle-specific coordinates system.

Mounting Instructions

The HKZ must be fixed with 4 srews. The tightening torque for M6 is M=8.5 +/- 10%.

The specification of the tightening torque is without washers.

When washers are used, he appropriate tightning torque must be determined.
