Open the door is a command, thus it is not a statement.

7055 is a large number is a declarative sentence, therefore it is a
statement.

7. In the year 2024, the president of the US will be women.


The sentence is either true or false, but not both true and false. Therefore
it is a statement.

8. Star Wars: The Force Awakens is the greatest movie of all


Time.
The sentence is an opinion regarding Star Wars, thus the sentence is not a
statement.

9. Harvey Mudd College is in Oregon.


The sentence is false because Harvey Mudd College is in Claremont,
California. Thus the sentence is a statement.

10. Mickey Mouse was the first animated character to


receive a star on the Holly wood Walk of Fame.
The sentence is true, therefore it is a statement.

Test II. Write the negation of each sentence.


1. The fire engine is not red.
The fire engine is red.
2. The Giant lost the game.
The giant won the game.
3. The lunch was served at noon.
