Presenting Data Effectively With Excel Charts

Filters allow you to temporarily remove content from a chart. To filter a chart, select the chart, click the filter button in the top right corner, and select the data you want to remove. You can also modify the data source of an existing chart by selecting the chart, going to the Chart Design tab, and selecting the data option to add or remove data series or categories. Finally, chart templates allow you to quickly apply formatting from one chart to another new chart by saving the formatted chart as a template.

FILTERING CHART DATA Apply Template

Filters will allow you to remove content temporarily from the chart. • Go to the INSERT tab – CHART OPTIONS – ALL CHARTS – TEMPLATES

CREATING EXCEL CHARTS


• Select the data range needed for Chart.

CREATING CHART TEMPLATES


Chart templates allow you to quickly apply a prior chart design to a newly
created chart.
ADDING CHART ELEMENTS Create Template
Chart Elements include; Axes Labels/Titles, Legend, Chart Title, Data
Labels/Table and more. • Right Click the existing chart – SAVE AS TEMPLATE
• Give the Chart Template a name and click SAVE.

• Go to the CHART DESIGN tab – ADD CHART ELEMENT By default, the Chart Template will be saved in the Chart Templates folder
location on your computer.
