Layers of Atmosphere

The document describes the five main layers of Earth's atmosphere: 1) The exosphere is the outermost layer transitioning to space with no clear boundary. 2) The thermosphere begins around 85 km and also has no defined upper limit. 3) The mesosphere extends from 50-85 km above the surface. 4) The stratosphere is between 12-50 km and above the troposphere. 5) The troposphere is the lowest layer reaching up to 12 km on average.

The exosphere is the uppermost region of
the atmosphere and gradually transitions
into the vacuum of space.

The thermosphere is the fourth layer of
Earth's atmosphere. It begins
approximately 85 kilometers and has no
clearly defined upper boundary.

The mesosphere is the third layer of
Earth's atmosphere. It extends
approximately 50 kilometers to 85
kilometers above the Earth's surface.

The stratosphere is located above the
troposphere. It extends roughly from an
altitude of about 12 kilometers to 50
kilometers above the Earth's surface.

The troposphere is the lowest layer of
Earth's atmosphere, extending from the
Earth's surface up to an average altitude
of about 12 kilometers
