Facebook friends, like, wall Twitter: followers, tweets, followings
• Students have to understand that Facebook is a social networking website that
anyone can be a member of Students can create their profiles and add photos and
information about themselves. Their profile has a wall where their friends can post
their comments and upload photos and videos. It also offers a variety of privacy
options to its members. A member can make all his communications visible to
everyone or he can keep all his communications private. He can even block specific
people not to have access to their walls and see their posts.
On the other hand, Twitter is a social networking microblog. Members have short
posts which are called tweets. Twitter members can broadcast tweets and follow
other users' tweets. On Twitter, the people who connect with you are called
"followers" instead of "friends." The most significant difference between Facebook
and Twitter is that Twitter is public, meaning anyone can follow anyone else on
Twitter. Tweets are posted on the Twitter website and they are permanent and public.
Anyone can search
tweets, whether they are a member or not.
