1. Scope & Objective of the Course:

Information Technology plays a vital role in our modern day lifestyles. It has touched each and every aspect of
human life. With the emergence of computers, we are witnessing a sea change in the business world. Starting
from multi-national corporations to small businesses, IT plays a stupendous role. In the field of
Communication, Inventory Management, Data Management, Management Information Systems and
Customer Relationship Management, IT plays a pivotal role. Information Technology is an engineering
division, which concentrates on the study of utilizing computers and telecommunications in order to control,
gather, store and circulate information. Both software and hardware sectors are parts of Information
Technology.
The main objectives of the course are:
 Learn about the main characteristics of computers
 To understand how problems are solved by computers
 To understand how the main memory of a computer is organized
 Explore the logical organization of the CPU of a computer
 Learn about binary arithmetic including addition, subtraction, multiplication and division
 Understanding the basic principle of Boolean algebra
 Describe various programming languages are and why we need them
 Learn about computer networks and classify them

2. Course Learning Outcome:


On successful completion of the course, students will be able to:

 CLO01: Understand the basic knowledge of Computers and its related technologies.
 CLO02: Evaluate Boolean expressions, design digital circuits and will be able to perform Boolean
calculations.
 CLO03: Find out the significance of operating system and various technologies related to software.
 CLO04: Analyze various memory types including registers and types of processors (RISC, CISC and EPIC).
