COURSE DESCRIPTION:

This course builds upon the students’ knowledge on properties of the real number system, operations on different types of algebraic expressions, and the solution of various types of
equations and inequalities. The course also covers the prerequisites to trigonometry and calculus, specifically transcendental and non-transcendental functions, including the characteristics of their
graphs and applications.

GENERAL LEARNING OUTCOMES:

At the end of the semester, students shall be able to:


1. Acquire and demonstrate knowledge on the concepts of algebra;
2. Show mastery in the process of finding solutions to mathematical equations, factoring and simplifying rational expressions, solving equations, formulating and graphing functions and
using appropriate computer applications/ software and calculators in solving and graphing and applying mathematical concepts, interpreting and discussing results and applying them to
real life situations;
3. Appreciate the value of neatness of work, patience and endurance in solving problems.
