Questions:

1) Walk me through your profile/ Resume or Tell me about yourself.

Sample Answer (Freshers) : I graduated from Boston University in May and
have been focused on my job search since then. I earned my Bachelor’s
degree in computer science and also completed a three-month internship
with IBM focused on product testing and quality assurance. I think the ideal
next step in my career is to obtain a full-time position with a growing
technology company like yours, and your products interested me so I thought
it made sense to apply for the Junior Fullstack Developer position to learn
more
Sample Answer (Mid - level): I graduated from high school five years ago
and immediately took an inside sales position with Everlite Software
Company. My focus was B2B inside sales and I finished my first year in the
top 5% of sales reps. The second year, I was promoted to Senior Sales
Associate, began training new team members, and was in the top 2% of all
sales team members. I then accepted a position with a competing company
after being approached by a recruiter. Unfortunately, that company went out
of business one year after I accepted the job, so I’m now searching for a new
B2B inside sales position where I can continue to use my skills to bring new
customers into a growing business. Your position looked interesting based on
the job description, and I love the fact that I’d have the opportunity to train
new team members here since it’s something I’ve done successfully in the
past.

2) (In case of Career Gap ) : As I can see you have 2 dropped/ gap years, could
you please enlighten me with the reason.
Sample Answer : I was working as a principal at the time and had difficulty
managing the budget effectively. I decided to return to my first love,
teaching, where I had previously excelled, and you can see that my teaching
reviews have been very positive since that time.
Tips : You can also spend a bit of time explaining what you learned from the
incident and any changes you have made in your attitude or your work ethic.
Never say you were not sure or there was no such reason.

3) What do you know about our Company?

Sample Answer : I read on your website that you’re one of the top data
security companies in the US, and that you serve more than 40 Fortune 500
companies including some of the biggest tech companies like Microsoft and
IBM. I also read a recent news article that mentioned you’re looking to
expand into providing these services for financial institutions as well. Is that
right? And can you tell me more about that?
Things to avoid : If you know absolutely nothing, it’ll kill your chances at
getting the job.
If you did no research and try to lie and cover it up, it’s even worse. So make
sure you actually know a few things about the company. It only takes 5
minutes of research to prepare for this question.
And finally, saying things that aren’t accurate or correct will also hurt your
chances of getting hired.
It’s better to know one or two facts that you’re sure about than to walk into
the interview with 10 facts and get half of them wrong.
So keep it simple and just know 2-3 basic facts about the company.

What all you should know about the company :

 What do they sell or how do they make money?
 Who is their typical customer?
 Approximately how many employees do they have?
 When were they founded?
 Who are some of their biggest competitors, and do they do anything
to differentiate themselves?
 Do they have a mission statement on the company website? What is
it?

4) Why do you want to work with us? Or why do you want this job?
Sample Answer : I’m motivated to find a position that will grow my
leadership skills, and a friend forwarded me your job description because he
saw that the job posting mentions building and leading a cross-functional
team. That’s what I’ve been doing for the past two years at my current
employer, and I’m now looking to do the same in a larger organization like
yours because I feel it’ll help me grow further as a manager. Also, I think the
fact that I’ve been doing similar work in the same industry for the past two
years will allow me to step into this role and be successful, so that’s why I
want this position and why I think it makes sense as the next move in my
career.
5) Are you aware of your job responsibilities? Or How do you imagine your day
to work as _________(Position/eg: Customer Care Associate/BDA) ? or
Describe a Typical Workday.

What all you need to know :

1. Read the Job Description
2. Lay Out Your Tasks at Your Current or Most Recent Job
3. Find the Overlap (Relation b/w your jobs and qualification/education)
4. Go in Chronological Order
5. Be Strategic But Honest

Sample Answer : I like to start each day by going over my schedule to

make sure any calls or meetings I have are top of mind and I get any prep
work for those done first thing. Then, I usually answer my emails while I’m
still fresh. I like to make sure I’m giving any warm leads my fullest,
clearest, attention so I generally jump to those conversations first and
reply right away or take the immediate actions I need to to get them the
answers to any questions they have. Then I check my LinkedIn messages
and voicemail and reply accordingly to cold contacts that yielded
responses. After that, I usually spend any remaining free time before lunch
researching prospects. In the afternoon, I find I’m more social and high
energy so I channel that into cold calls and messaging. Usually I’ll have
one or two scheduled calls with leads each day, and while I prefer to put
those in the afternoon, I’ll defer to their preferences. I also try to listen in
on a sales call two to three times a week to get a sense of how our account
executives are closing deals, both to learn more about that step myself
and to know what messaging will likely resonate with leads I speak with.
I update Salesforce throughout the day, but before I leave, I double check
to make sure I didn’t forget to record anything.

6) What are your strengths and weaknesses?

7) How do you deal with pressure and stressful situations?
8) How do you spend your day?
9) When was a time you overcome a professional challenge?
10) What makes you suitable for this role?
11) What can you bring to the company? Or why should we hire you?
12) Do you have any questions for us? Is there anything you want to ask
me?
13) What are your salary expections?

Experienced candidates can expect below questions along with the above listed
ones:

1. How many years of experience do you have?

2. What were your KRAs/ Job responsibilities in your last company?
3. Why did you leave your job? Or why do you want change your company?
4. Tell me about a situation where you dealt with the most difficult situation
and how.
5. What was your contribution in your last organization? (For sales profile:
What was the revenue generated by you?)
