INDOT Intersection Decision Guide

The document outlines a two-stage process for evaluating alternative intersection designs. Stage 1 involves an initial feasibility screening of alternatives based on 4 questions related to site characteristics and performance. Alternatives deemed infeasible are eliminated. Stage 2 provides a secondary assessment of remaining feasible alternatives based on their performance related to traffic mobility, safety, cost-effectiveness, and other measures. The alternative with the best overall performance assessment is then selected based on how well it meets the essential project intent.
