What is the Root of ICT?

Information and Communication Technology has been in use since
the 1980s, especially by academic researchers. The term of ICT was
coined by Dennis Stevenson in 1997.

What is Information Technology?

-is a broad term that involves the use of technology to

communicate, transfer data and process information.

The advancement and application Information and Technology

(ICT) is changing, some of these include the following:

1. Cloud Computing
- the usage of computing services through a software as well as
hardware.

2. Mobile Applications
-is a computer program or software application that is designed to
provide a wide range of functions and services and with
consideration for the demands, constraints and capabilities of the
devices they're built for.

3. User Interfaces
-is the space where interactions between human and computer
occur by means of communication in a device.

Phishing Scams

-when criminals use scam emails, text messages or phone calls to

trick their victims.
The aim is often to make you visit a website, which may download
a virus onto your computer, or steal bank details or other personal
information.
Other types of Phishing Scams

Whaling and Spear phishing

-the difference between whaling and spear phishing is that whaling
exclusively targets high-ranking individuals within an organization,
while spear phishing usually goes after a category of individuals
with a lower profile.

Example: Whaling: an attacker may send an email to a CEO

requesting payment, pretending to be a client of the company
Example: Spear Phishing: an attacker will message a normal
individual that they have won 1,000,000 and in order to claim the
prize you have to load their mobile number.

Pharming
-cyberattack in which criminals redirect internet users trying to
reach a specific website to a different fake site.

Example: a user would open their browser and enter the web
address of their bank in order to complete a transaction in online
banking.

How can ICT facilitate social relationships?

1. Bringing people together (Video Calls)

- meeting new people easily (Chats)
2. Easier organization of communities (Group Chats)

achieve a political goal

to spread their messages, they establish web pages

2. Provide access to political information

through the internet citizens can access huge amount of relatively
unfiltered information.
